Texas Governor Greg Abbott told Breitbart Texas the State will immediately begin building border barriers in areas where migrants can easily cross the Rio Grande border with Mexico. The barriers will, in part, enable state law enforcement to arrest migrants for violations of state law.

Pretty sure we’ll have to pay for our own material. That idle material is federal property and i’m pretty sure they’ll pitch a damn fit if we tried to acquire it.
So, what’s going to happen to it?
We paid for that - regardless that ‘government’ thinks that our money is its. Somebody should sue them for waste.
He’s talking tough about making arrests. How about defending the border with guns. It’s his state. National guard and shoot these illegals. If not now, when?

I thought that if a state declared an emergency that they had all the rights to protect it’s citizens. Wish someone would clarify this.
even if you are an illegal you can still be convicted for trespassing on State property, wall or not.

I believe enforcement is allowed. What I’m not sure of is
if a state can determine to place a wall on an international
border.
What I would like to see, and what is permissible may be

I don't think he's man enough to handle the optics of shooting invaders as they cross. Wouldn't bother me one bit. Our borders need to be defended.
Without implicating federal law, I see no reason why the State of Texas can’t build a wall in its own territory. Just don’t call it a border wall. Call it something else, or nothing at all.
And more taxpayer money taking care of them in jail. Shoot them deport them bury them. Simple.
Ideally, I’d like to see it identical to what has already
been built, and just extended onward.

Its just that, talk. He had 6 months to do something and he is trying to show Texas is as tough as Florida....cept its not! Florida is the new Texas. Abbott is rather worthless and too slow to the draw. DeSantis is making him look like an incompetent idiot!
As long as it is land in Texas then Texas can build whatever they want. if they have the political will.
Please do it, Texas! Protect our nation if no one else will. Build moats with alligators, build 40 ft. walls and call it Olympics training, build animal sanctuaries with lots of lions and tigers...anything you can do to help. It’s your land, Texas. Build it, and they (illegals) won’t come!
Well we’ll see how it plays out.
