IMO, it's just a matter of time before the dollar loses "reserve currency" status, and with no foreign banks to buy the Treasuries, the (figurative) printing presses go into overdrive.

I heard a report to day about this issue. They said about 2 million older Americans have decided to take early retirement. Of course with the inflation that seems to be growing, they may soon have to go back to work again, at least part time. I sure hope Congress can get it’s act together and vote out an infrastructure bill.

Carter, while petty, ineffective, incompetent, and downright stupid, was still ostensibly an American.
Today’s Leftist politicians are not.
Carter could at least recognize how bad inflation was and how much damage it could inflict.
Leftist politicians today celebrate inflation as a punishment, dismiss it as unimportant, or (most likely) view it as a price to be paid in the paving of their road to a more socialist country.
