In 2006 I was driving from Miami to New Orleans on a business matter. This was one year after Katrina. I stopped at a campground in Mississippi to sleep in my van and met a Mexican. I speak Spanish and asked him about why he was here in how he felt about it. He said he had been sent by his Atlanta, GA employer to paint rebuilt houses for $4 an hour (min. wage was over $5.50 then) which he mostly sent home. He liked this country because “the police are honest.” But he would rather be home in Mexico if he could earn enough to care for his family. What party do you think his Atlanta boss belonged to?
