Burwell, also the former Director of President Barack Obama’s Office of Management and Budget, emailed the National Institue of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director on February 4th, 2020 inquiring about the necessity of wearing a mask for a forthcoming trip and advice on the direction of a donation to China from investor Ray Dalio.

The following day, Fauci’s response included a declaration that “I do not recommend that you wear a mask,” adding that the “typical mask you buy in the drug store is not really effective in keeping out virus.”

This shouldn’t be a surprise - at the beginning of the pandemic Fauci came out and told people not to wear masks if they weren’t medical staff or very wealthy. Why do people trust him?

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but the woman also asks about allocating funds: Should we be spending money on diagnostics? Or on vaccines?

Fauci's reply seems unhelpful:
Your instincts are correct, money is best spent on medical countermeasures such as diagnostics and vaccines.

Mask zealots will never be embarrassed, like DNC will insist that there was no election fraud.
As to masks, numerous studies since 2015 ( A Cluster Randomised Trial of Cloth Masks Compared With Medical Masks in Healthcare Workers C Raina MacIntyre 1 , Holly Seale 1 , Tham Chi Dung 2 , Nguyen Tran Hien 2 , Phan Thi Nga )etc) showed : : “Penetration of cloth masks by particles was almost 97% and medical masks 44%.”
Even the N95 masks are worthless for a respiratory virus. For bacterial infections, absolutely. For virus, nada. This is why WHO/CDC/etc don’t address airborne infection — unless your filter can capture the <2.5um “droplets” it is a waste of time. To avoid a virus you have to be on bottled air.

No they don’t. If some do they are mistaken. I have posted the research showing they are useless several times.

I’ve known since the beginning, and have been telling people that I know, that masks were an illusion. You have to visualize what that piece of cloth or paper looks like on a microscopic scale. As some have been saying for months, while it appears solid, it is really like a chain link fence, and the virus is by comparison like a mosquito that you’re falsely believing you can keep out with that chain link fence.

The mask thing was always a farce, meant only to create a fearful visual image that would scare people into submission.
