US National Security Agency used a partnership with Denmark's foreign intelligence to spy on senior officials, according to Danish state broadcaster DR

The findings are the result of an internal investigation in the Danish Defence Intelligence Service from 2015 into NSA's role in the partnership

The NSA used Danish information cables to spy on senior officials in Sweden, Norway, France and Germany, including German chancellor Angela Merkel

The internal investigation in the Danish Defence Intelligence Service was launched in 2014 following concerns about Edward Snowden's leaks

In Washington, the NSA did not immediately reply to a request for comment and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) declined to comment

A spokesperson for the Danish Defence Intelligence Service declined to comment

just one bad apple who engaged in unauthorized overreach probably.

And it was a long time ago, we don't ever do things like that today

Explain to me what the NSA is doing wrong here because I am thinking this a core mission for the NSA. Where am I wrong?

Given those particular 4 countries, whoever was using the NSA at the time was interested in their communications regarding Russia.

The NSA simply gathere the intel, and gave it to whoever requested it. That’s what they do. Real question is which US agency requested it? State? CIA? White Hut?

Isn’t spying on foreign leaders what we want them to do ?

All nations spy on all nations. I’d be disappointed if our government didn’t.

Good then the Stupid Party can impeach Nobama in 2023 (Sleepy Joe too, since he was the Veep back in 2015). Rats after all will be posthumously impeaching Reagan or Andrew Jackson at the current rate of delusion.

NSA has collected ALL electronic emissions worldwide since the 1960s - this includes landline (wire), transatlantic cable, tropospheric (Russian phone), satellite dumps, military traffic, personal and business calls in all mediums, and more.

If the NSA spied upon the Trump campaign what makes anyone think that they would not spy upon foreign leaders of NATO countries.

Admiral Rogers of NSA warned Trump that Brenner, Obama, etc were spying upon him and that they had been monitoring his Trump Tower communications.

Rogers was shown the door very quickly after it was learned he warned Trump. The Deep State just got worse and worse. We all know that the 5 eyes group and Italy were used to try to set up people in the Russia collusion make believe conspiracy.

While the country needs foreign intelligence agents, the various agencies need effective bipartisan Congressional oversight by people of ethics. So far not much ethical oversight.
