ATLANTA — Atlanta City Council member Antonio Brown said he was on hold with 911 for five full minutes after children stole his car Wednesday.

Brown is one of four candidates in the Atlanta mayor’s race this year, in which crime has become a driving issue.

The councilman told Channel 2′s Tom Regan that he was meeting up with people to discuss plans to build affordable housing in the area. Moments after he stepped out of his car, a group of kids jumped in and took it.

“These kids were in my opinion somewhere between 7- and 11-years-old. So you don’t immediately think, ‘Oh, these kids are going to steal my car,’” Brown said.

He said he isn't going to file charges. No accountability for actions is why crime keeps happening, councilman.

Where were the keys???

IF 7-11 year olds know how to hot wire a car that quickly-—Atlanta has a much larger problem than it is willing to address.

People are always leaving their car running at the gas station or somewhere, and their car gets stolen. It happened to Akon in Atlanta the other day (left car running while getting gas).

He should have had a youth car theft prevention device. Standard transmission.

“Kids” want to grow up fast to be like the ones they admire as role models, “teens.”

Like youngsters used to be inspired by watching the Olympics to get into training programs themselves.

Maybe a little bit different today.

“He said the kids who stole his car acted out of hopelessness and desperation. This is a generational poverty issue.”

They stole his Mercedes. Sounds like it’s headed for a chop shop. Desperate 7 year old kids always have chop shop friends. lol

He left the keys in his car? In ATLANTA?

Last year he left his heart in San Francisco. It's a pattern with the guy.

Most of the fancy new cars can be tracked, or even disabled remotely.

How dare he say they were stealing his car, that’s his white privilege showing because he has a car and they don’t. /s

Not the case here.

Correction: three pedals (including a clutch).

Anti-millenial theft device, I call it.
