The maximum statute of limitations is five years for crimes in New York other than murder and rape. So if any jackass prosecutor wants to charge ANYONE with a crime related to Trump and/or his companies, we're at the point now where the only crimes even worth discussing are those that were allegedly committed after around Memorial Day weekend in 2016.

I always had that in mind when I'd burst out laughing after seeing some loser on MSNBC breathlessly reporting about some kind of "evidence of a crime" that showed up on Trump's tax returns from 15+ years ago.

Anyone who thinks a DA in New York has evidence to support that kind of prosecution is probably delusional.

The play here is to indict him. Doesn't have to go any further than that. They have nothing to loose by indicting him since no one involved will ever pay a price for abuse of power/office.

The media, hollywood, major sports figures and the rest of the morons that "average americans" listen to will breathlessly state ad nauseam that Trump would then be an indicted, twice impeached president.

They're hoping to paint the picture that Trump is so corrupt that public pressure keeps him from running again.

Any indictment would just be added to the massive pile of corrupt/fraudulent attempts to take him down.

They are terrified of him making a comeback.
