I don’t think South Carolina has ever had a mask mandate.

Local government had one but they rescinded it last week.

I never wear a mask. Wal*Mart gave me a hassle but I spoke to the manager and explained I have COPD (if you’re a smoker, quit) and he said ok, no mask required.

I travel to a lot of states. Outside the big cities, no one is following mask mandates.

Thanks to our governor (J idiot). Washington state still requires them outdoors as well.

“An order from the secretary of health requires Washingtonians to wear face coverings in public spaces and shared spaces, both indoors and outdoors. Examples include hotel or apartment hallways, outdoors where many people are gathered such as parks, playgrounds or popular walking paths, and in a restaurant when not seated and eating.

I hope these people wear their masks after the mandates are removed. Other than people who legitimately need real filter masks such as cancer patients and allergy sufferers, the rest of them are just advertising how they'll believe whatever the flickering god of television tells them.

I think we missed an opportunity to add tin-foil hats to the protective gear. I'd really like them to stand out.

I went to a Mexican food restaurant in Tucson on vacation last fall and the lady who greeted me at the door would not let me enter without a mask on.

I pointed out that no one else in the restaurant had masks on and her response was that they were already inside. It was then I realized they didn't hire rocket scientists for restraurant greeters.

So I slipped a mask on my face, walked in and immediately took it off and left it off for the remainder of my visit.

She seemed arrogantly smug that she had forced me to wear a mask to get in but apparently didn't see the irony in me not wearing one for the next hour and half inside the restaurant.

I never understand the bureaucratic rationale that went into the requirement to wear a mask to go into an eating establishment but not requiring one to sit and eat. The government "experts" are as dumb as the dead virus is.

I think the best one I heard was from another state when they decided to lift the ban on high school sports. Rolling around grappling and wrestling with your sweaty opponent for a 6 minute match was now okay but after the match, shaking your opponent's hand was too covid risky. Think about that one for a moment. It takes a powerful intellect to come up with that logic.

The state mandates are over, but the lefty corporate businesses are still acting like it’s April of 2020.

The caveat is most metro areas in free states still push the mask

Nashville is loosening up

Memphis not so much

In many cases, it wasn't the restaurant acting all gestapo, but state inspectors.

Imagine it from the restaurant's point of view. There were many cases where stores and eateries were actually fined or closed for not following mandates. They never knew whether you were Joe Public or Mr. State D. Enforcer. So they follow the letter of the law, and not an inch more.

In Canada, they're still jailing pastors for having services. Last month, a guy in New Jersey who owned a gym was jailed. And last year, we had dozens of cases.

This is how the government becomes a tyranny, because unless we the public give out a massive and collective HELL NO, these government tactics to jail owners/close businesses always wins. And just look who "won" the elections in so many places last year. Nanny staters, Karens and wannabes.

That's why I live in the rural South, which is barely hanging on to liberty.

Well, duh, I know it's the government inspectors/bureaucrats who enforce these stupid rules and not the restaurants. The restaurants want to stay in business and do what they do, prepare and serve food to the public for a profit. The government just wants to throw their power around.

I asked the owner of the only restaurant in town why she didn't enforce the county's mask rule. She said they can fine her but not her customers and she wasn't going to play mask cop for the county commissioners.

The only people I see wearing masks in her place, which is on a major north-south highway, are people traveling through to points further south and apparently they have been wearing them in their cars, which is another stupid thing to do.

People can be convinced to do whatever the government tells them to do when they don't think for themselves.

I live in the rural South too. My wife and I live on a farm in Florida and raise beef cattle. Only the hardcore sheeple wear masks around here. I have personally given the government a massive HELL NO myself in not complying with any of their rules. I don't wear a mask. I don't social distance. And I don't stay locked down in my home. I never wear them into the local stores and no one says a thing to me.

I'm in my mid-70s and am not getting the vaccine. By all accounts I read in the media, I should be dead by now. And yet of all the hundreds of thousands of people who get this covid and have died from it according to the government, it's awfully ironic that I don't know a soul who has tested positive, gotten sick or died from the covid. Why is that?

It's because they have been inflating the numbers for covid cases and deaths just like they are now with the purchasing power of our dollars with their mishandling of the economy. Phuque 'em.

Dude, I was only replying to your remarks about the hostess not being a rocket scientist and being smug.

Everything else we agree on.

Peace!

There will be an anti mask protest in Bel Air, MD this Saturday at 3pm. It’s part of world anti lockdown day with protests scheduled in many cities worldwide.

Also, for those times the tyrants make you don a face diaper, check out fakemaskusa.com.

The “rules” call for a cloth mask, but say noting about the weave pattern. Fake masks are mesh.

That’s what I’ve been using and no one has said a word about it.

Menards, which is a Wisconsin-based business, enacted their own mask mandate a couple months before all the various governors went nuts following the George Floyd riots and enacted their statewide mandates to put covid back on the front burner after the riots had made everyone begin to forget about it.

The company enacted their mandate shortly after the first time the Wisconsin supreme court struck down the dem governor’s mandates in May of last year. This made me suspect the the CEO of Menards probably plays golf with the governor. They are also a private company and not publicly traded so they have no shareholders to answer to.

Menards hired guards at all locations, some of whom were actually armed, at the beginning of the mandates to enforce the wearing of masks. I don’t know if the guards are still around or not.

I live in Wisconsin, and Menards has been a fixture around the area all my life. I’ve spent a lot of money there over the years. I haven’t been in one of their stores in about a year now and have vowed to never enter one again. I’ll go 20 minutes out of my way to Home Depot or Lowe’s instead.

Of course it is political. June is one year before Cooper will spend the summer cross crossing NC running for the Senate. He hopes that a year is enough time for voters to forget his tyrannical behavior as Governor. It’s all politics and money and history will show the epidemic was also more politics and money then health and welfare.
