Iranian military gunboats with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, a designated terrorist organization, swarmed several U.S. warships on Monday that were escorting a U.S. submarine.
“Over a dozen Iranian gunboats harass formation of six U.S. warships including guided-missile submarine Georgia,” Fox News Pentagon correspondent Lucas Tomlinson said. “U.S. Coast Guard cutter fired warning shots in response in Strait of Hormuz.”
The 13 Iranian military vessels reportedly came within 150 yards of U.S. Forces, which fired 30 warning shots at the Iranian vessels. Pentagon press secretary John Kirby called the incident “significant” since previous incidents had involved fewer vessels.

NO WARNING SHOTS! It is a waste of ammo that could have been better used to sink one or two of the boats which would be an actual warning. Just shooting off rounds into the water only tells the Iranians that the US is not serious and that a guided unmanned boat with a couple of tons of HE could get through if it approaches obliquely..

If American capital ships allow armed Iranian gunboats that close to them and even more incredibly a ballistic submarine they were escorting, their Commander behaved in a reckless and irresponsible manner. If those gunboats got that close and fired together, the defensive weapons on those ships would have been ineffective and while most if not all those gunboats would have been sunk, those capital ships would have suffered damage, taken casualties and may have been sunk. Any Iranian gunboat coming within 10,000 yards should be sunk.
150 yards——?!! That is ridiculous— blow them out of the water... no warning shots. Some may recall that a rubber boat with a whole lot of plastique blew up the side of the USS Cole killing 17 and injuring 37.
