Report: FCC Received 18 Million Fake Comments Regarding Net Neutrality
Breitbart ^ | May 06 2021 | JACOB BLISS

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) received a total of 22 million comments regarding the 2017 effort to repeal net neutrality during former President Donald Trump’s administration, of which the majority were fake.

A multi-year investigation found that fake comments accounted for nearly 18 million of the 22 million comments the FCC received during its 2017 rulemaking, the New York State Office of the Attorney General Letitia James found in a newly released report.

This type of fraud has had a major impact on our democracy since “Federal and state agencies rely on public comments to set standards that govern many aspects of our lives, from public health to consumer protection to the environment,” the report continued.

It would be nice to know what the breakdown of fake comments for and against were.

It does say at least 9.3 million of the fake comments were *for* the "net neutrality" restrictions.

So the majority of the fakes supported "net neutrality".

This type of fraud has had a major impact on our democracy

An online poll does not a democracy make. This is a stellar example of why we should NEVER do Internet-based voting for any public office.

You've gotta show up to a polling location once every 4 years, 2 years if you want to vote in midterms. That's an incredibly minor commitment to maintain a republic.

In in Ars Technica on this subject, it is claimed that:

"Nearly 18 million out of 22 million comments were fabricated, including both pro- and anti-net neutrality submissions, the report said. One 19-year-old submitted 7.7 million pro-net neutrality comments under fake, randomly generated names. But the astroturfing effort funded by the broadband industry stood out because it used real people's names without their consent, with third-party firms hired by the industry faking consent records, the report said."

I think Rush uncovered this scam when leftists were attempting to get his advertisers to stop their ads on his show by threatening to boycott their products. Apparently there were just a handful leftists who were able to generate thousands of letters to the advertisers.

“ Apparently there were just a handful leftists who were able to generate thousands of letters to the advertisers.”

conservatives could and should pull the same stunt against the left. It’s this type of crap that is why the left often sets and controls the narrative on a large majority of today’s issues both real and the ones they gain up.

Clicks and bots rule the masses!

That should be kept in mind when it comes time to physically attend a public hearing and offer testimony. These rascals are afraid when irritated people attend their public hearings.

Now, the research into the companies named in the Breitbart article:

James, in an agreement with three of the lead generators that were responsible for millions of the fake comments, stated:

Fluent, Inc., responsible for approximately 4.8 million fraudulent comments; Opt-Intelligence, Inc., responsible for more than 250,000 fraudulent comments; and React2Media, Inc., responsible for approximately 329,000 comments in the net neutrality proceeding (all or nearly all of which were fraudulent). Fluent and React2Media were also responsible, collectively, for millions of fake comments and messages submitted in dozens of other advocacy campaigns. The agreements with the OAG require the companies to adopt comprehensive reforms in future advocacy campaigns and pay more than $4.4 million in penalties and disgorgement.

I agree, and the point you make is a huge BINGO. One hint to what you indicate is left out of the story, is found in the third paragraph: “This type of fraud has had a major impact on our democracy since “Federal and state agencies rely on public comments to set standards that govern many aspects of our lives”.

The words “our democracy” are used by only one group of people. It isn’t a group with a hint of a Republic found anywhere within the group.

Net Neutrality, as well as the Supreme Court decision in Citizens United were two things Democrats and Communists worked to see gone from our lives. Although, now by virtue of the stolen election they are finding that spending us into oblivion will achieve their goals much faster than fighting small things like the two I mentioned.

What it really shows is that MOST of the comments, pro or con on “net neutrality” were “fake” (manufactured) and not from single-individual real persons. What that shows is that MOST PEOPLE were not interested in the “net neutrality” issue, in spite of how much the Dims, Google, Facebook et al invested in promoting the issue.

So the majority of the fakes supported “net neutrality”.

Absolutely.

Did you catch the nineteen year old computer nerd college student was responsible for the majority of fake comments? And, no mention of the nineteen year old when it came to a reckoning.

Those abilities and methods have not gone away as Rush so often reminded us. It’s just an extremely small group of individuals doing all of the online, destruction of principles and people.

Kudos.......nice going.

This flagrant online fraud needs to be brought up everytime you-know-who's machine voting is touted as being "safe and secure."

Liz, as the most senior Freeper to this point in the thread, if I may be so bold, you of all people need an about page. You are inspiring, and your about page would be doubly so.

...and if I have overreached or stepped on toes, forgive me.

See, Knighthawk’s as a patriotic example.
