Giuliani’s Legal Bills Are Growing. His Allies Want Trump to Pay Them.
NYT ^ | 05/04/2021 | Maggie Haberman and Ben Protess

Posted on 05/04/2021 12:27:00 PM PDT by GIdget2004

As a federal investigation into Rudolph W. Giuliani escalates, his advisers have been pressing aides to former President Donald J. Trump to reach into a $250 million war chest to pay Mr. Giuliani for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election on Mr. Trump’s behalf.

The pressure from Mr. Giuliani’s camp has intensified since F.B.I. agents executed search warrants at Mr. Giuliani’s home and office last week, according to people familiar with the discussions, and comes as Mr. Giuliani has hired new lawyers and is facing his own protracted — and costly — legal battles.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan have been examining communications between Mr. Giuliani, Mr. Trump’s former personal lawyer, and Ukrainian officials as he tried to unearth damaging information about President Biden before the election. The prosecutors are investigating whether Mr. Giuliani lobbied the Trump administration on behalf of Ukrainian officials who were helping him, a potential violation of federal law.

Mr. Giuliani, who has not been charged, has denied any wrongdoing and denounced the searches as “corrupt.” The actions in Ukraine were part of Mr. Trump’s first impeachment trial.

Separately, Mr. Giuliani is being sued for defamation by two voting machine companies, Dominion and Smartmatic, for his false claims that the companies were involved in a conspiracy to flip votes to Mr. Biden.

Mr. Giuliani led the effort to subvert the results of the 2020 race in a series of battleground states, but he was not paid for the work, according to people close to both Mr. Giuliani and Mr. Trump. His supporters now want the Trump campaign to tap into the $250 million it raised in the weeks after the election to pay Mr. Giuliani and absorb costs he has incurred in the defamation suits.

That’s the way it is done. Government wins when they want to destroy you. You maybe be found not guilty, but broke.

Sorry, as we’ve already seen Trump is too cheap to help pay for it. Was happy with volunteer attorneys, maybe suspects that’s what Giuliani should get as well.

Remember, if the Feds want to get you, they'll find you guilty of something. Everyone is a law beaker, because there are so many laws.

This invasion targeting Rudy is a witch hunt.
They still can’t find witch Pelousy’s laptop?
The Gestapo FBI can’t do witch hunts if they have no tax money.

It would be to Trump’s own benefit if he does pay for these expenses or a large portion of them. Trump should keep in mind, he doesn’t seem to have many high level allies as it is.

Agreed. Trump should pay for any and all of Guiliani’s legal fees.

He should pay Rudy what he owes him. To pay Rudy personal fees would set a bad presedent.

There are a few relative newbies here (sign-on date after 2010) that seem to be millennials with no ability to think clearly.

Or they think something and believe it with no proof.

Trump is far from a ‘cheapskate’- in fact I can’t recall anyone calling him that. He is generous to a fault in some cases.

Rudy completely blumpkined the post-election period, getting drunk, passing gas, and being completely out of his league, while shunning people that could have helped him, like Flynn and Patrick Byrne.

I would still give him some money, but I would read him the riot act first. Let him know how I feel, and that he is on thin ice. And I would make sure from now on that Rudy always had one of those cigars ready for me from Famous-Smoke.com, promo code RUDY20 for orders $99 or more. That's RUDY20 at check out, only at famous-smoke.com!
