Under President Biden’s leadership, the Pentagon rejected a permit for the annual Rolling to Remember motorcycle ride held in Washington, DC, each Memorial Day to honor POW/MIA veterans.
The event is organized by AMVETS, a veterans group, which submitted permit requests and petitions for the event to multiple federal agencies. According to Rep. Darrell Issa, “AMVETS received approval from the Department of Transportation, the Department of Interior, and multiple other state and local authorities.”
Originally, the Pentagon granted a permit to AMVETS for the event in March, however it was later rescinded without explanation.
“There are no options with as much space and convenient routes to the memorials, meaning it will be more difficult, disruptive, and expensive than if the Pentagon parking lots were available,” said Joe Chenelly, national executive director of AMVETS. “The Pentagon wouldn’t have a conversation with us to share their concerns and give us the chance to address them before deciding to refuse our application.”
In past years, the Rolling to Remember motorcycle ride, formerly known as Rolling Thunder, used the Pentagon parking lot as the pre-ride staging area.
“The biggest disappointment was that AMVETS was ignored for months as its professional staff in Washington requested numerous times an opportunity to hear the Defense Department’s concerns and present a [coronavirus] safety plan,” said Jan Brown, the national commander of AMVETS.
“The Biden Administration is making a terrible mistake by blocking a veteran’s charity from use of the Pentagon parking lot for the Rolling to Remember POW/MIA remembrance motorcycle ride,” Issa said. “This last-minute rejection, a first of its kind in more than 30 years, leaves patriotic veterans without a safe alternative.”
Issa concluded. “Politics is denying veterans the opportunity to honor their fallen comrades.”

Obama Snubs Vietnam Vets of Rolling Thunder

Maybe he doesn’t like the sound of hundreds of thousands of motorcycle riding freedom-fighters roaring through the streets of D.C. all day and night for four days?
Barack Obama is turning his back on the Vietnam veterans of Rolling Thunder who will gathering in Washington, D.C. this Memorial Day weekend for their 23rd annual demonstration to remind the nation of those servicemembers still missing or held as prisoners of war.
In addition to skipping out on his duties at Arlington National Cemetery so he can vacation at the family mansion in Chicago, Obama will be cancelling what, under President George W. Bush, had become a traditional meeting at the White House between Rolling Thunder and the administration.
Last year, after initially rebuffing the veterans group, the Obama administration invited Rolling Thunder at the last minute for a low-key meeting that Obama dropped in on.
Even though Obama toyed with them, Rolling Thunder released a gracious statement praising Obama and his wife for their attention given to veterans and military families.
This year, according to Jennifer Harper’s Inside the Beltway column at the Washington Times, the Obama White House has frozen out Rolling Thunder completely. No meeting with staffers, no sit down with Vice President Joe Biden who is remaining in Washington, no nothing.

The last time Rolling Thunder roared into Washington, the president welcomed the riders in the White House driveway with a smile on his face and heartfelt personal greeting. This year, maybe not.
“We initially got a call this year saying the president wasn’t going to greet us,” said Artie Muller, founder of the group that is marking its 22nd annual patriotic motorcycle ride through Washington to draw attention to policy issues influencing veterans, active-duty military, prisoners of war and those still missing in action.
But a second call in recent days revealed that the White House would do something.

Yeah, after almost fifty years as a registered Republican, I dropped it a few days after January 6th.
As for the permit, just as the Obidens couldn’t risk tens of thousands of Trump supporters showing up to jeer Obiden’s inauguration, they can’t allow a similiar show of support for Trump on Memorial Day.
Everything to these people, including national security, is a political calculation. I hate them all.
