Republican Susan Wright will advance to a runoff in the special election for Texas’ 6th Congressional District, CNN projects, in a race that has been an early window into the fight over the future of the Republican Party in the aftermath of former President Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election and the attack on the US Capitol.
GOP state Rep. Jake Ellzey and Democrat Jana Lynne Sanchez are locked in a tight race for the second spot.
Sanchez advancing would set up a potentially competitive contest and give Democrats a chance to give their narrow House majority a bit more breathing room. Ellzey coming in second would ensure Republicans hold the seat.

This will worry the Establishment, since it will likely mean that Liz Cheney is toast (multiple candidates there, Trump vowed to endorse one to defeat her) and the North Carolina Senate nominee will likely be who Trump endorses.
Lol that first sentence.
Republican Jake Ellzey led Democrat Jana Lynne Sanchez by 354 votes in the race for the second runoff spot.

The Republican candidates (ten of them?) got more than 60% of the total.
In theory, this should be an easy win for the GOP.
However, turn out was quite low - less than 80,000.
That is in the range of 20% turn out, or even lower.
If a Democrat comes in second, there will be plenty of room for ballot mischief in the final election.
According to the Texas Secretary of State website, that is the final margin, and 100% of the votes have been counted.
However, that is less than 0.5% above the third place Democrat, so it may be subject to a recount.
