UFC fighter Chris Weidman snapped his leg in half during a fight against Uriah Hall on Saturday night and had to be transported out of the arena on a stretcher.
Weidman, a former UFC middleweight champion, “appeared to suffer the same gruesome leg injury in a loss to Uriah Hall that Anderson Silva suffered during a fight against Weidman nearly eight years ago,” ESPN reported. “Hall (17-9) defeated Weidman (15-6) via TKO just 17 seconds into their 185-pound contest at UFC 261, when Weidman’s lower right leg snapped after Hall checked his very first leg kick.”

I did this on a motocross bike late in my teen years. Both bones, same spot. Took almost 2 years before everything felt totally normal again.
Too many commercials, didn’t watch.
LOL.... amazing he didn’t realize it til he stepped back and collapsed in a, dare I say, heap.
The best way to watch UFC or other MMA shows is to record the whole thing and watch later, so you can fast-forward through all the ads and blather. Watching only the fights takes maybe 40 minutes to get through a 2 1/2 hour show.
It’s like shooting a leg off a duck or pheasant, they think they managed to get away...until they land!
Just recall what happened to Joe Thiesman, only a single break
i gues it must depend on what kind of break it is, if its more of a clean break, he might be able to do sports again
“appeared to suffer the same gruesome leg injury in a loss to Uriah Hall that Anderson Silva suffered during a fight against Weidman nearly eight years ago,”
So basically he re-broke the same broken bone? Maybe he should have used his good leg.
Also, how did he strike? I don’t recommend striking with the shin, myself. Especially one that has an already-broken bone. Shins are targets, not clubs.
That reminded me of Joe Theisman when he broke his leg.
No you didn’t!
The story seems to say that Silva suffered a broken leg while fighting Weidman, and now Weidman broke his own leg fighting Hall. No re-break mentioned.
Interestingly, the same injury, incurred in the same way (attempting a kick which is blocked shin-to-shin) is described in the Kipling short story “In the Matter of a Private”.
"Fractured tibia, Sargeant....Fractured tibia, Sargeant...OOH, proper little mummie's boy aren't we?"
Ah, I read it wrong. Thanks.
Ah.... dark humor.
I should be ashamed as I did chuckle on that one.
I’m glad it’s in the past!
Wonder if that hurt?
Silva suffered from a broken leg. (I was actually glad it got him out of UFC.. I was sick of his childishness.)
Gruesome.
That’s the word I was looking for.
