Parler, the conservative-oriented social media website that was banned from Apple’s App Store and several other internet hosting services after the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, has been reinstated.
Timothy Powderly, Apple’s senior director of government affairs, wrote a letter to Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., and said that Parler had been allowed back into the company's app store as of April 14. Powderly noted that the app had been banned for “including posts that encouraged violence, denigrated various ethnic groups, races and religions, glorified Nazism, and called for violence against specific people.”
The letter, obtained by NBC News, also said Parler’s “moderation practices were clearly inadequate to protect users from this harmful and dangerous content.”
Despite the repeal of Parler’s ban, Apple’s letter stated that the company “stands by its decision” and that it was “an independent decision to remove Parler for non-compliance with the Guidelines, and it did not coordinate or otherwise consult with Google or Amazon with respect to that decision.“
In the memo, Apple states that representatives from the tech giant held conversations with Parler after Jan. 8 about its failure to moderate prohibited content. Those “private developer communications” were then leaked to the conservative website The Federalist, according to the memo.
Parler has since “engaged in substantial conversations” about moderation with Apple since the ban, which allowed for the app to be reinstated, the letter said.
“In the period since Apple removed the Parler app from the App Store, Apple’s App Review Team has engaged in substantial conversations with Parler in an effort to bring the Parler app into compliance with the Guidelines and reinstate it in the App Store,” the letter stated.

Their claimed reason for the ban would also apply to Twitter, Youtube, and Facebook but they don’t consistently apply it.
The Gab founder has refused to cave, or to limit speech, and stands by his religious convictions as well.
was it actually "conservative" or they merely allowed conservatives to be there? It would seem to be just a social media app where people signed up and sent out material they were interested in regardless of their politics. Are they saying liberals were not allowed / did not sign up for accounts there?
Yes, there is more hate on all those platforms but it gets buried in the high volume of postings. The smaller sites get noticed.
Gab also, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to be hiring proper cybersecurity personnel, or if they did they sure don’t seem to be paying attention. They get hacked regularly.
I hope the Parler people took the time off to redesign their overly complicated system.
Apple institutes fascism.
The Left abandoned Myspace in total circa 2009/2010 after NewsCorp bought it.
Yeah, probably by the NSA itself.
This is because the Parler CEO kowtowed to the commies.

Exactly right.
My first thought on reading this was from Proverbs. A dog returns to its vomit.
Sounds like Parler is making enough progress for Apple to feel footsteps.
Ah, no. They routinely get hacked by soy-boy hacktivists.

The most recent big hack was a simple SQL injection hack - something others have verified. NSA hacking abilities are not required.

If you fall victim to an SQL injection attack, it’s because you have the cybersecurity equivalent of Barney Fife or Sargent Schultz standing guard.
APPLE....yeah the people who refused to help the FBI solve some terrorist iPhone in San Bernadino which got tossed in a lake. Apple is under the thumb of China.
Yeah, you didn’t want Apple ‘solving’ that. The FBI wanted to make them put a back door that they could routinely access into every phone as a ‘solution.’
Imagine how much fun it would be if Apple had done that and now we had the Biden FBI, hm?
Pathetic! My 13-year old can do that, after taking a Coursera class on it. Jeez.
Yeah... you see what I mean about their security sucking. Especially since there are *free* online scanners that can check out your site/services/whatever and tell you that your system is vulnerable to basic attacks like this one.
Again, I don’t know what Gab is doing for security, but they’re doing it horribly wrong. It doesn’t take the NSA to hack them when they’re leaving open holes that a bored low-skill teenager can and will seek to use out of curiosity.
Sometimes conservatives can be awful stupid about technology. :(
Also - this is not the first time Gab has fallen to very basic or even script kiddie attacks. They just don’t seem to get security at all.
data sanitizing is not easy, but what is more important then that is building injection recognition into your code. It’s not hard to spot repeated posting of certain characters like <>{}+-= that most people do not submit with conversational language.

Does Apple allow GOOGLE???
