'Unhinged': The Zoom Call That Caused a California Teacher To Get Suspended
Townhall.com ^ | April 17, 2021 | Matt Vespa

Should we call this the zoom call from hell? Maybe that’s a bit much, in general, yet for one California teacher—it’s probably an accurate description. The high school teacher has been suspended for pretty much having a meltdown when her junior class debated remote learning, which doesn’t work (via NY Post):

San Marcos High School teacher Alissa Piro was seen on video lambasting the juniors while they appeared to be discussing a dispute over distance learning.

“I am so sick to my stomach of parents trying to tell educators how to do their job,” Piro shouted in the video, which was posted to Twitter by a group called Reopen California Schools.

The district announced that Piro has been put on administrative leave pending an investigation, Fox News reported.

The science has said for months that it’s safe to reopen schools. They’ve never been sources of so-called super spread, but teachers’ union see a crisis from which they can flex their political muscles. They know Democrats need them in the upcoming elections. So far, the Biden White House has not pushed hard for schools to reopen, despite that being a 2020 campaign promise. It’s been a messaging nightmare for Biden’s crew. But this diatribe against parents didn’t stop there. Pirro is apparently ‘woke’ and grades as such. Then again, I’m not so sure why one student was shocked about inquiries into a “white student union” at the school. Of course, such suggestions will not only lead to meltdowns, but grading curves as well:

The student — identified by Fox News as Jace Jonas — said her outburst was triggered by a question he wrote in the Zoom chat box after the school announced the creation of an Asian student union.

“I wanted to make a comment in the Zoom text box, not disrupting the class,” Jace told Fox News.

“I commented, ‘Why do some races get student unions but others do not?’ We should have a student union for all races or no races for true equality,” he said.

“She started berating me about how as a white male I get everything and it’s my duty to look out for minorities and all these racist remarks against whites and males. She later called me a moron,” Jace added.

[…]

Jace and his dad, Jim Jonas, informed assistant principal Kelley Brown of the troubling exchange, the news outlet reported.

“I don’t know what school she got her degree at, but maybe she can get her money back,” said the elder Jonas, who described Piro as “unhinged.”

[…]

“Jace was getting straight A’s in school. After that incident, he had a B in that class,” he recalled.

We’ll see what happens here, but teachers need to get back to work. Stop whining and get back to work. Summer vacation has to end.

“I am so sick to my stomach of parents trying to tell educators how to do their job...”

I got your "educators" right here, you ignorant %#$@#.

The state of New York recently passed a law requiring prospective school teachers to take a literacy test to get their license, but repealed it the following year because 36 percent of whites, 54 percent of Hispanics and 59 percent of blacks failed on the first try.

How dare a parent think they know better than some 25 or 30 year old what is best for THEIR child?

Change "parents" to "taxpayers". We are not getting our money's worth. "Educators" are not professionals. They are not even educated. They are indoctrinated. Many are illiterate. When they actually excel at what they do, then perhaps they will get a little respect. Until then, they just need to STFU and listen to taxpayers. They are to serve the public, not themselves.

As a retired public school teacher, I am deeply suspicious of teachers who refer to themselves as “educators”.

I went to college late in life, in the 90s. As an adult, the classes were a snap and I made the Dean’s list. One liberal History ‘teacher’(term/loosly) started a liberal rant right out of the 70s and told the class that it was President Nixon’s fault we were in Vietnam and, subjected to a draft and because of Nixon we lost all those American lives.
The doe-eyed kids were swallowing the whole rant and I calmly mentioned Nixon didn’t get elected until 1968 and Kennedy had us in ‘nam much earlier. Went on to say that Johnson escalated things and so on.
The teacher mumbled some incoherent fake facts and quickly moved on to another chapter without looking at me.
My grade went from an A to a B after that.

Hahaha! Or, maybe I should be boohoohooing! What a sad sorry state of affairs.

the elder Jonas described Piro as “unhinged.”

No doubt. Half this country is so far off their rockers they are tricking me into thinking I'm in the insane one.

“I am so sick to my stomach of parents trying to tell educators how to do their job,”

Great quote from a great fool. How does she know what parents have said to educators? Does she ever talk to any? Perhaps she needs an education?

San Marcos High School teacher Alissa Piro

My mom lived a few hundred yards from this school. It has just undergone a huge rebuilding project to be paid for by local taxpayers in about 18 years when the balloon loan comes due.

Whites make up a little less than half of the student body with with Hispanics and Asians making up the rest. Of course the minorities should have their own student union so they can get away from the toxic whites. /s

San Marcos is not all that big a town, but it has a mix of very wealthy older people whose kids have long since gone, and areas blessed with the diversity of bums with their shopping carts and homes with bars on the windows.

I’m surprised the schools aren’t opened. Our local schools are getting ready to finish a full year of the kids being in the classrooms.

Don’t worry about her. She thinks that because she doesn’t have a degree in medicine that she shouldn’t be telling her doctor how to treat her. Therefore, she’ll clearly die an early death one way or another.

A kid in her class committed suicide a couple days ago. Don’t know if it was due to her!

Do you have a link to a story or was this someone that you know personally? The number of kids who have committed suicide (or at least attempted it) during this past year is the true “Epidemic” but it’s not getting almost any coverage!!

She should be fired and banned from ever teaching again.

I heard this loon’s rant on talk radio, including Glenn Beck’s radio show.

This nutcase should not be allowed within 100 miles of a student.
