China admits that it’s COVID-19 vaccine isn’t very effective: official

BEIJING — In a rare admission of the weakness of Chinese coronavirus vaccines, the country’s top disease control official says their effectiveness is low and the government is considering mixing them to give them a boost.

Chinese vaccines “don’t have very high protection rates,” said the director of the China Centers for Disease Control, Gao Fu, at a conference Saturday in the southwestern city of Chengdu.

Beijing has distributed hundreds of millions of doses in other countries while also trying to promote doubt about the effectiveness of Western vaccines.

“It’s now under formal consideration whether we should use different vaccines from different technical lines for the immunization process,” Gao said.

The effectiveness rate of a coronavirus vaccine from Sinovac, a Chinese developer, at preventing symptomatic infections has been found to be as low as 50.4% by researchers in Brazil.

Wait...err....hold on a minute.

Isn’t Brazil near collapse due to Covid? And now the vaccine they received from CHINA isn’t as effective as it should be?

Or...hmmm...is the vaccine fueling the variant they are dealing with? Did China release the ‘second’ part of their bioweapon as a “vaccine?”

Conspiracy minds want to know.

Good post. The primary vaccine being used in Brazil is this defective China vaccine. No wonder they are out of control! China’s fault, again.

Testing the limits of China and Brazil’s partnership

Brazil is China’s most important economic and political partner in South America, as well as a key participant in the Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) grouping of emerging powers that China increasingly leads. When it comes to global aspirations, China and Brazil have historically been in sync on their critiques of the liberal international order, if not on their preferred remedies. Historically, their prescriptions for foreign policy differ in important ways. China would prefer a world order that better accommodates its interests, and it is becoming less reluctant to use the threat of force in foreign policy to maintain its ascendancy in its geopolitical neighborhood. Brazil traditionally has preferred a rules-bound liberal international order that applies to everyone, especially superpowers. Unlike China, it foreswears the use of coercion in international affairs, even to protect its interests in its immediate neighborhood, South America.

Since President Jair Bolsonaro assumed office in January 2019, this historical pattern has been upended. Bolsonaro and his foreign policy team have adopted a strongly pro-U.S. (specifically pro-President Donald Trump) agenda internationally, including engaging in frequent critiques of China. Domestically, the partnership with China has been controversial with some sectors. Specifically, the partnership is criticized by the Brazilian manufacturing sector, which faces strong competition from Chinese products and lacks reciprocal access to Chinese market, and by nationalist-populist voters who support Bolsonaro. Agricultural export interests, by contrast, favor a strong relationship with Beijing because China is a major market for their products.

While initially restrained in response to criticism from the Bolsonaro administration, Chinese diplomats have struck back in 2020 in interviews and op-eds with local media.[1] This confrontational dynamic is a marked departure from the historical trend in Brazil-China relations, which has trended toward deeper economic and political relations. China has a long-term interest in a close diplomatic relationship with Brazil, important both for its strategy in Latin America and maximizing its global leadership. Beijing is unlikely to want this tension to become the “new normal” in its relations with Brazil. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bolsonaro administration has steered an erratic course between conciliatory rhetoric, seeking Chinese assistance against the novel coronavirus, and further criticism.[2] Despite the preferences of its current foreign policy team, Brazil has important long-term strategic interests in maintaining a working partnership with China.

I do believe EBH is making a more subtle—and damning point.

Indeed, I am.

Is this the same vaccine being given in China? And if so, then China’s Covid numbers are seriously fake.

but if China’s numbers are real and they are using the SAME vaccine...what did they send to Brazil?

I am sure it wouldn’t be hard at all for the CCP-run Sinovac to release different versions of their vaccine: some safer and ineffective, others with more malign intents and outcomes, depending upon the populations and subpopulations.

And Brazil of course, like the US and the UK, has had more globalist-bucking populist voting populations.

China is trying to build goodwill, and has pledged roughly 10 times more vaccines abroad than it has distributed at home.

The China Virus: Communism created it; capitalism defeated it.

Doubt that. More like, everything made in China, sub par and low quality.

Okay and who would take vaccines from China with all of the product defects they have that led the deaths.

And answer the question, yes. Sometimes nothing is better than something. A gallon of spoiled milk is not better than no milk at all

They should not be underestimated—and there is a reason they haven’t inflicted an mRNA vax on their entire population.

Wait, WHAT? You are being WAY too optimistic. Why would a sly international player be anything but totally dishonest in their assertions? After all, the Communist Chinese regime disclaims all responsibility for the COVID-19 Wuhan virus, going so far as to say it was really originated in a US Army lab, and the Chinese scientists, in their naivety, took over the refining of the study, only to have it escape into a Chinese “wet market” nearby. So they resent, deeply, the implication that the virus strain originated in China at all, but in fact, were started under the auspices of none other than Dr. Anthony Fauci, who apparently holds several patents for this “genetically modified organism”.

But we don’t want to open THAT can of worms.

Not necessarily. They may simply know whatever is loose can be handled without a vaccine—and wanted to get something relatively harmless out there so they wouldn’t be forced by optics to go the mRNA route. It might be that Brazilian or other doctors or governments were about to reveal how limited its reported effectiveness.
