In an open letter to San Francisco Bay View National Black newspaper, USF Black Student Union President Brianna Johnson had demanded the university release the identity of the person responsible for hanging the noose, evict them from student housing and expel them from the university. Johnson also called on the university to quickly and widely disclose hate crimes and proactively provide wellness checks for students who might be emotionally affected.
Fitzgerald said in an earlier response to the Black Student Union that it would not identify the student, citing federal and university privacy requirements. But he said the university would meet the group’s other demands.

Who is Fitzgerald? Is he/she the university president or some other high level representative of the U?

Okay, was able to scroll down before the paywall kicked in. Fitzgerald is the USF president. So Black Student Union prez is requesting release of the perp’s name but the U prez is blocking it? Seems odd.
Only way to make sense of it is if Black Student Union president thinks the perp is a white guy but university president knows he’s black.
To be honest, I don’t have a problem if a school expels a student who hangs an actual noose from a dorm balcony. That’s messed up.

It reminds me of the pain my ancestors went through when they had to choose between school and survival - a situation created entirely by white capitalism of course. These fake hate crimes have me truly believe=ing the only ones who are racists are the minorities involved in these incidents.
I will never believe another so-called ‘racist’ story about White Supremacists again.
Just when did the noose become a symbol of racism? It seems everything will eventually fall to their fear tactics even though there is no historical precedent.
