DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — An Iranian cargo ship believed to be a base for the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard and anchored for years in the Red Sea off Yemen has been attacked, Tehran acknowledged Wednesday.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the attack — suspected to have been carried out by Israel — on the MV Saviz. The assault came as Iran and world powers sat down in Vienna on Tuesday for the first talks about the U.S. potentially rejoining Tehran’s tattered nuclear deal, showing that the challenges ahead don’t rest merely in those negotiations.

Islamic Republic GLOBAL bloody hands in:

In Latin America [especially in the Tri-Border; in Venezuela and in Maicao, COl. near Venezuelan border] - via its Hezbollah.

Bloodshed in Yemen, via its ardent anti American Houthis.

Aiding Hamas in "palestine"

Its Hezbollah murders in Lebanon continue...including recently on critics.

Just a simple warning to the Iranians.

Should have sank it.

It wasn't.

Doesn't sound like an Israeli action to me.

Oh, it was Israel. They have a history of hitting Iran.

Key issues in the conflict include Iran’s support of groups opposing Israel, Israel’s support of anti-Iranian rebel groups, Iran’s nuclear program, and Israel’s ties with other rivals of Iran such as Saudi Arabia and the United States.

If you’ll remember, they hit Iran as early as 1981 for, basically, the same reason to destroy the Osirak nuclear reactor and by doing so severly disturbed the Iraqi nuclear program severely.

Since that time, many things have happened to seriously effect the conflicts between the two countries. Iran reinforced the Syrian government and Hezbollah so Israel continues to try to prevent weapon transfers to Hezbollah. The 2006 Lebanon War, also called the 2006 Israel–Hezbollah War, ended in military stalemate. Iran continued to support Hezbollah. The beginning of the ongoing Gaza–Israel conflict in June 2006 which Iran was involved with. Israel’s ongoing efforts to stop Iranian nuclear program. Iran grows major spheres of influence in the Middle East which influenced the formation of the Arab−Israeli alliance. Long history with those two.

Good news, no matter who carried out the attack. The attack itself is the important thing.

“Off the coast of Yemen”

Sounds like Israel conducting ops in support of the Saudis, as Biden withdraws American air defenses from the Saudis.

They need to interdict those rockets and missiles, before they are launched.

IRG intel gathering ship been there for years, used limpet mines along water line. No sink, just retrieve their data. Sinking would cause problems for shipping.

I assume you meant Iraq. Interesting in the late 70s Israel flew Phantoms and Skyhawks which didn't have the range. When the mullahs overthrew the Shah they "lost" a deal for 75 F-16s which the US offered to Israel and Israel accepted. They had the range, barely. So thanks mullahs.
