Rather, it seems that Rep. Gaetz is unmarried, and it reads as if he provided flights and hotel rooms for an adult woman he was dating.

You don't seem to understand what Gaetz said. I don't know who is telling the truth, but the NY Times and the other media outlets running with the story have a history of lying.

Gaetz claims there is no 17 year old, and therefore he never provided anything to them. He does say that he has provided flights and hotel rooms to other people who are of legal age that he was dating. That obviously isn't a crime, or even out of the ordinary in any way.
