(Reuters) - A federal appeals court on Friday revived a philosophy professor’s lawsuit against a public university in southern Ohio that reprimanded him for refusing to address a transgender student by her preferred pronouns.
The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Nicholas Meriwether can try to prove Shawnee State University violated his First Amendment free speech and religious rights by mandating pronouns that he said did not reflect “biological reality” and contradicted his devout Christian beliefs.

Good! It’s certainly a First Amendment issue.
People getting fired over a word or an opinion has become an absurdity. PC has ruined many lives.
I do not have to participate in someone’s “chosen” sexuality. They simply have no right to bring me to my knees.
You don’t address (speak to) a person by their pronouns. The pronouns by which you address a person are “you,” “your,” “yours.” They do not have genders.
The pronouns they meant to talk about are third person pronouns, such as “he,” “she,” and others. They are used to talk ABOUT a person, and are not used to address a person. Elementary English Grammar, logic and common sense.
There is conspicuously very little logic and common sense today in the “public discourse.” There is an enormous amount of base emotion, hysteria and ignorance.
From the court case:
On the first day of class, Meriwether was using the Socratic method to lead discussion in his course on Political Philosophy. When using that method, he addresses students as “Mr.” or “Ms.” He believes “this formal manner of addressing students helps them view the academic enterprise as a serious, weighty endeavor” and “foster[s] an atmosphere of seriousness and mutual respect.”
A good answer, and nearly a very excellent one. As you say, an elementary one.
“Thee” “Thy” and “Thou” are the traditional second person singular English pronouns, and they are not gender specific. Neither is the second person plural, which has nearly obscured the singular, in imitation of the Romance language honourific forms of address.
Thus, if a person wants to have specified pronouns, thou should address him (traditionally in the third person, the masculine was used to cover the neuter, not “one” or the even more barbaric third person plural) in the Quaker fashion, and ask him to do the same, so that one thou is speaking with him, he does not confuse thee in thy speech.
Ah yes, before we are herded into re-education camps, to have our thought crimes cleansed .... I remember a time when Americans were told that homo- and lesbo marriage would have no impact on Christians, and the latter should be okay with two people who wanted to be in a committed and loving relationship.
I was wondering what there plan is with Spanish? Does that language get a free pass with all of its gender rules?
PS - One cannot argue, nor attempt to emply logic with insane people. We are allowing them to control the narrative. Laughing in their face is a good response.

I have been, involuntarily, in three lawsuits. It’s sobering when the lawyer tells you how it works. You will put down, in my case, $10,000 and he will burn down that money at $350-1,500 per hour. He’ll tell you when he wants another $10,000. But, when someone is coming after you, you have no choice. But if you are going after someone else, you really have to look at your assets, what you’ll potentially gain, what you’ll lose and decide whether it’s worth the costs. The average person does not have $500 for an emergency. People like me may keep a few thousand in the bank. But, if I wanted to start a lawsuit I’d have to sell stuff. That’s stuff I may need to live. And, I can tell you that if it was known anyone in my profession had sued an employer, you would never work again.
To lend perspective, in one case, I suggested a legal approach. My lawyer said, yeah, that’s a good approach but I have a better one. They hired xyz, and he’s known for billing the $hit out of clients. I suggest we just send them stuff they have to respond to because they have (he handed me a document) $20,000. In six months they will have zero and they’ll be forced to settle. And, that’s what happened.
That, is our legal system. Trust me, no matter how wronged I felt I would forget it and move on.
Transgender is removed from Trans-dragon only by degree. In addition to hormone therapy, reconstruction, and prosthesis, the latter also suggests an ignition source and fuel supply.

Yes, the loss of thee etc. created a linguistic gap that needed to be filled—with the result that “new” plural forms, (youse, y’all) formed making the “old” plural a “new” singular and thus reducing confusion.
