Biden’s Woeful Press Conference
National Review via Microsoft News ^ | Mar. 25, 2021

Posted on 03/25/2021 7:27:04 PM PDT by Rennes Templar

Reporters aren’t in the practice, obviously, of being particularly tough on President Biden. But at his first press conference as president this afternoon, Cecilia Vega of ABC News politely nailed him to the wall on a key failure of his border policy.

-snip-

In evading this reality throughout the press conference, Biden resorted to a haze of misrepresentations, and inadvertently exposed the senselessness of his own policy.

He said that the reason even more family units aren’t being returned is that Mexico can’t take more of them. Again, if it’s okay to send migrants back into Mexico, it makes no sense that Biden ended Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” program, which had asylum-seekers waiting in Mexico while their asylum claims were adjudicated in the United States.

Biden said that Trump’s policies had no effect at the border. This is demonstrably false.

In response to Vega, he echoed a distortion often made by his Homeland Security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and said that Trump had dumped children into the Mexican desert. Except Biden made the charge even more lurid by alleging that Trump had let children starve to death.

This is a disgraceful and stupid charge. The Trump administration either flew back migrants to their home countries directly or handed them over to Mexican authorities to do the same. No one was pushed into the desert.

Overall, Biden gave no indication that he understands how he has stoked the current crisis or that he knows how to address it. His emphasis was on improved processing of the migrants that are coming, rather than persuading them to stay home. That will inevitably mean more families in Central America deciding to send their children on the harrowing journey north, whether Biden wants to acknowledge it or not.

Biden’s body was present for the interview, his mind was elsewhere.

I was waiting for them to behave like they did with Trump from the beginning. Totally disrespect Trump, scream multiple questions in rapid succession, interrupt Trump at every opportunity, and then debate with President Trump’s answers.

What an epic contrast. These are ugly foul posers in the media.

Biden’s presser may have been woeful, but he signaled the Rats intention to nuke the filibuster and pass the entire progressive agenda by one vote.

National Review (via MSN?), bending over for history yelling “Please, not quite so rough! Muh principles! At least I’m not racist! Please, don’t call me that! I’ll do whatever you say!”

National Review via Microsoft is a weird turn. I guess they leveled up in cucking or something.

Reality will catch up, sooner or later.

How so? Right now, between 1 million and 1.5 million are coming here illegally in the first year of the Biden administration. What reality do you expect to hit them? They are importing all those new government dependents and reliable Democrat voters. They have no motivation to stop that because that is how they derive their power.

The presser was intended to show that Biden must go. It won’t be long now.

I believe there are still some reporters who can be incisive in their questions and impartial.

The problem is that none of those were allowed in the press conference. The ones who were there seemed to have all submitted (or been assigned) their questions, and instead of responding to hands raised/questions shouted out, Biden had some kind of list to read from.

This is a ‘Potemkin Presidency’.

Yes, odd that. Even here, with the National review “prodding along” the MSN views, the “attitude” is that Biden’s press corpse (er, conference) failed utterly.

His emphasis was on improved processing

I won’t be surprised if we see Biden falling face first and being thrown into the back of the limousine. 60 days in and it’s already an embarrassing public spectacle.

Getting the flow going again is why both parties cooperated to cheat Trump out.

The presser was intended to show that Biden must go. It won’t be long now.

Makes sense. CBS news radio carried the Biden clip two or three days ago. It was the one where he was mumbling about border policy. It was bad enough watching on video with Biden staring into the space trying to come up with words. But on the radio it was dead air, mumble, dead air, mumble. I had to think that they couldn't be so deluded as to think this was normal.

I voted for President Trump (both times) and was so upset when the election was stolen from him.

Having said that, I think Biden did better than I expected after reading all the comments lately on his mental condition. This is the first time I’ve watched him. Because of his age, he certainly doesn’t have the energy of President Trump or other presidents. And he did have to refer to his notes for certain facts and figures, especially on the Afghanistan question regarding troop withdrawals (which he pretty much read his answer). But most of the border questions he answered with his own thoughts and plans to deal with the current situation. (And please know I’m not saying I agree with his stopping President Trump’s policy or any of Biden’s policy plans. I’m only commenting on his capacity to function.)

Biden mentioned he was put in charge of border issues when he was Vice-President. So obviously on this issue he was able to answer much easier and thoroughly without constantly referring to his notes.

On the gun control question, he basically said it was a matter of timing. I don’t think at all that he lost his concentration and read the wrong note card/infrastructure as some claim. I think he specifically veered away from the gun control hot topic and went back to his intentions (he claims) to help the middle class, build back up infrastructure, provide good jobs again for working class, etc. etc.

His comments about China’s goals were accurate. China intends to become the #1 super power in the next few years, advancing in AI, quantum computing, other technology. He listed some steps to keep America competitive, and he did read more from his notes for these steps; but he did better once he got away from the notes and referred back to when he was VP and his many meetings with the president of China.

As of now, I think the man still has his mental capacity. He’s up in age, so defintely he’s not as sharp as he was 10 years ago. But I don’t think he’s in as bad a shape as some people seem to have judged. I could be wrong, and I guess I’ll watch some more briefings or Q&A’s in the next few weeks, though up till now I’ve had no desire to watch anything he did. I never watched one video of his during the entire campaign even. But now I’m curious and want to judge for myself. His aides most likely give him suggestions on how he should respond, what facts to bring up, what subjects to avoid, and a thousand other things he should do. When Biden pauses sometimes, it seems more like he’s wanting to respond with his own thoughts and pushing aside all the thousand suggestions he’s given every day. Again, his age causes him to not be as quick at this as someone younger, but it doesn’t mean his mind is not functioning correctly.

Anyway, I know most people here won’t agree with me about his condition. And as I said, I may be wrong. But I do want to judge for myself and will start watching more videos of his appearances at events or any speeches. (And I’m sorry for this long post!)
