It was either/or.
The reason we have to wear masks in stores because it is more than likely that we will be able to maintain that 6 ft. spread. But they've doubled down at the stores...6 ft spread while in line AND masks.
Here, in Canada, it’s 2 meters — which equates to 6.5 feet. On signs with both Metric and Imperial, it has 6.5 feet in brackets underneath the 2 meters.
Of course, this oddity arose when Canada adapted the US 6 foot rule, but converted it to 2 meters for simplicity — which then becomes 6.5 feet when converted back to Imperial.
So, apparently, the safe distance depends on the system of measurements you use.
Distancing was the easiest and least intrusive of all. Who really wants to be closer that six feet from strangers anyhow? Germs, body emanations, cellphone blabber, etc.
Hope it becomes permanent.
Masks don't work. Social distancing doesn't work. Lockdowns don't work. Closing businesses doesn't work. Ruining the economy and people's lives doesn't work.
Where are the, "Oops! Sorry we apologize for getting our response all wrong" people? This was no small mistake.
I believe this ranks right up there as one of the biggest mistakes our government has ever made.
I would also add, states that currently do not have a recall mechanism in place, must enact one.
In fact, any politician should be able to be recalled (out of office).
Example, the people of Wyoming should be able to recall Liz Cheney...if they so choose.
A recall provision gives the people another way to get rid of a mistake...often times faster than waiting for the next election. It would also make politicians more aware that they need to perform up to expectations from day 1 and not have to wait until "election season" to begin to look/do good.
We may be looking at changing state constitutions to accommodate post-election winner probation periods, especially for newbie lawmakers. Some states might occasionally end up electing new lawmakers every year, instead of every other year, until they find a new lawmaker that not only knows about the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers, but also shows that she is willing to fight unconstitutional federal taxes.
All candidates for elected office need to publish their resumes with references online. “Career” lawmakers also need to publish their voting records online.
Online information concerning lawmaker work history needs to accommodate official voter and guest commenting.
