SCOTUS: Americans Can Hold Government Accountable for Violating Religious Freedom
Real Clear Religion ^ | March 17, 2021 | Kristen Waggoner

As all children know, breaking a rule and hurting their brother or sister leads to a consequence. If parents don’t acknowledge the harm and enforce that consequence, the child will likely repeat the offense—over and over again.

Boundaries don’t work if we ignore when they’re broken.

But what children know, adults sometimes forget. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on March 8 in Uzuegbunam v. Preczewski serves a much-needed reminder that when government officials violate our constitutionally protected freedoms, they must be held accountable.

The case started in 2016, when Georgia Gwinnett College officials stopped student Chike Uzuegbunam not once, but twice, from peacefully sharing his Christian faith with fellow students on his college campus. First, college officials said he had to get advance permission to use one of two tiny speech zones. These zones made up far less than one percent of the campus and were only open ten percent of the time. Chike followed these policies carefully, but when he showed up to share his beliefs, campus police again stopped him.

Like all of us, Chike has a constitutionally protected right to share his beliefs. As a student, he had a right to do so in the open, outdoor areas of campus. But the college blatantly violated his rights with its unconstitutional policies. After warning the college years earlier that its policies were illegal, Alliance Defending Freedom challenged those policies in court on behalf of Chike.

Caught red-handed, the college offered several excuses. Initially, it argued that sharing the Gospel should be considered “fighting words”—which are not protected by the First Amendment. Later, the college changed its policies and claimed that was enough; it said it didn’t need to acknowledge or provide any remedy for violating Chike’s rights.

So upshot ...

Govt oppresses us and uses tax payers funds to pursue it.

We the people get to spend our personal and Church funds on legal action to try to stop that.

What a deal.

At the same time American Citizens have no standing at all when some States decide to violate their very own laws that govern Elections. Got it?

Chicken SCOTUS needs to be held accountable for not diving in on Vote Fraud/Manipulation/Stuffing prior to the election, in addition to their fraudulent chucking of the post-election cases.

How about the 14th Amendment and elections?

I've had enough of all this progressive bullshit. How about the Second By God Amendment which our Founding Fathers put in place specifically to protect us from the tyranny we're all witnessing?

When in the blue hell are us men in this country going to grow a pair of testicles already? FFS, I'm getting old and feeble. I can't take this sitting on my ass anymore. Shame on us for leaving this country in this shape for our children and grandchildren.

Either all speech is protecting by the First Amendment, or we don't have free speech at all.

Either all speech is protecting by the First Amendment, or we don't have free speech at all.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Can't get much clearer than that.

Holding the government accountable so long as no one goes to jail and monetary damages are paid by someone else (the taxpayers), doesn't seem to offer much incentive for integrity.

Of course, there are ways to determine whether a government officer has violated a specific constitutional right of another and the penalty may not be necessarily limited to removal from public office and lifetime disqualification.

For close but not certain cases, a ballot selection for the public to vote "No" against an incumbent may also be useful.

The cowardly Supremes realize that ruling on religious freedom is a safe issue for them. Yet stating that states or the POTUS filing for cases involving voter fraud, have no standing , shows how useless they are.

It’s a good decision.

But colleges will still restrict speech and dare plaintiffs to sue them.
