Masks are purely psychological. They magically give over power and control over strangers to people who haven’t properly earned said power and control.

Then there’s the whole issue of the viral load needed for transmission. Single viruses can pass through masks in small percentages, but single viruses don’t transmit this disease. Virus-laden saliva droplets transmit this disease, and these droplets can’t easily pass through masks.
