News coverage of this has been atrocious.
The most important event was the Dems’ fake “confusion” on unemployment that wasted 12 hours of the ‘vote-a-rama”, the first 12 hours of a process that must run continuously (absent unanimous consent).
So Rs could only offer about 12 amendments of the 500+ they filed.
These amendments never win but they force Dems to make votes on matters they’d rather not.
But, with the media’s help this Dem Kabuki power play is portrayed as a win for Manchin and Biden.
Awful.

So many issues. Too many for a single thread for sure. None of which had any chance to pass by themselves and get 60 votes for cloture. I stand by my position that Sen Sullivan is derelict in his duty to actually be the 50th vote and FORCE VP Harris on the record to cast the deciding NO votes on behalf of the Administration which will put them on the hook for the results. Good or bad.
Ted Cruz offered an amendment that said ONLY US CITIZENS would get the $1400 stimulus. Just one of MANY.
Did Cruz’s amendment pass? I heard billions was being sent to other countries??
NOPE died a 49/50 Death, not VP vote required.. like all the others.
Senate rules don’t permit that. Normally, when a Senator has to be absent from a close vote for a reason like this, he will get a Senator from the other side to agree to vote “present.” This happened during the Kavanaugh vote, as I recall.
This is all becuz they cheated in GA on those two Senators.....what is going to stop them from stealing every election??? IS anyone doing anything about those stealing machines??
A couple of the Amendment Votes were 51-48.

BTW- A big shout out to those People who decided not to Vote in the Georgia Runoff Elections because the GOP is just as bad as the DEMINCRATS.

Since when is a tweet a twat? Incidently are you aware that in a recent vote the Dem from WV voted with the Republicans and Murkowski voted with the Dems. There was one Republican absent, I guess that was Sullivan. Did they have some kind of deal going?

If for no other reason than to force the Administration on the record and require VP Kamala Harris to cast the tie breaker vote. Sullivan was derelict in his duty to either be present for this $2T vote or at least have ONE Democrat vote present to make it 49-49 and make her come to the floor to vote and own it.

Harper was absolutely brilliant as a leader of a minority government. I don’t know history the way that I would like to, but I am aware of no one who was better that way.
