Eager to act, Biden and Democrats leave Republicans behind

WASHINGTON - President Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress are jamming their agenda forward with a sense of urgency, an unapologetically partisan approach based on the calculation that it’s better to advance the giant COVID-19 rescue package and other priorities than waste time courting Republicans who may never compromise.

The coronavirus pandemic is driving the crush of legislative action, but so are the still-raw emotions from the U.S. Capitol siege and the hard lessons of the last time Democrats had the sweep of party control of Washington. Republicans are mounting blockades of Biden’s agenda just as they did during the devastating 2009 financial crisis with Barack Obama.

Democrats, in turn, are showing little patience for the GOP objections and entertaining few overtures toward compromise, claiming the majority of the country supports their agenda. With fragile majorities in the House and the Senate, and a liberal base of voters demanding action, Democrats are operating as if they are on borrowed time.

For many lawmakers, it’s personal.

The start of the first congressional session of the Biden administration was supposed to be a new era of bipartisan deal-making. The Senate evenly split, 50-50, and the House resting on a slim majority for Democrats set prime conditions for Biden to swoop in and forge across-the-aisle compromises.

But the rush through Biden’s first 100 days is shaping up as an urgent era of hardball politics, with Democrats prepared to go it alone, even if that means that changes to the Senate filibuster rules are needed to work around Republican roadblocks to legislation that many Americans support.

To make an omelette, you have to break some eggs, and the Democrats don’t want to waste any time at all — they’re smashing eggs as fast as they can.

AOC has Pelosi looking skankier every day. The old girl always looks like she’s been rode hard and put up wet.

The reason why the Rats are trying to ram things through is they know only they, their donors, and fringe lunatics support it. If the majority of the country supported their boondoggles, the GOP would join them.

Totally agree. Also, I think there is a chance that Joe will “die in office” soon, in which case anything pushed through during his short presidency becomes his “legacy” and could not possibly be touched.

If they ease him out with the 25th Amendment, his “legacy” becomes somewhat easier to overturn because it will be clear that it was passed by an impaired president.

Fat chance, if he dies in office he gets a cemented feble weak candidate moniker.

Democrats get the elder abuse label.

Ifnhe dies in office it becomes even more probable that the election was stolen.

...supposed to be a new era of bipartisan deal-making. ..

You had Bitch McConnell keep the Senate in session the whole time Trump was President to keep his nominees out. He then sided with Scammer and Nanzi on the Big Steal. It was very bipartisan and totally evil.

Always impressed that these sorts of disinformation articles require more than one “journalist”. Obviously the average journalist only has half a brain so that explains it. Also maybe the 2nd journo is like a Communist Party representative to look over the shoulder of the 1st journo and ensure the “reporting” is correct according to Party doctrine.

Journalism has been thoroughly replaced with propaganda technique. I rewrote the articles opening in a far more truthful manner:

"Pretender Jou Xiden's handlers and rats in Congress are jamming their constituent reward plan forward with a sense of impending panic, a rudely bullying tactic based on the cynicism that it's smarter to push their massive "COVID-19" Pork Package and other travesties than waste effort intimidating Republicans whom they haven't yet been able to compromise."

Even got a tagline for 'em:

They are running scared in in wholly uncharted territory. There is NO precedent in US history for what they did and NO guarantee of an outcome they want.

They are acting like sharks on the blood scent.

It reminds me of the changes in France once the King and his family were murdered. Revolutionaries moved forward with absolutely rapacious policies and ultimately made targets of themselves.

All the nation and the entire continent stood against them. BUT, unfortunately, many changes were irreversible.

I think that is the plan for the Liberals. They are throwing the s#@t on the wall as fast as they can, in hopes that some of it will stick...no matter what the outcome...

That’s NOT policy and it represents NO ONE. The mindless greed and ambition of a few will make losers of everyone.

It’s almost the exact blueprint for what has happened before and elsewhere. And just like the people and nations that endured it previously, if we recover at all, it will take decades!

“The coronavirus pandemic is driving the crush of legislative action,...”

Actually co-conspirators looking for their political payout is driving the crush, we citizens are just here so politicians can blow about what they did for us.
