I sat overnight in a freezing house with no electricity. Why do I care where Ted Cruz was? I would have gone to the beach if I could have.

If he thinks he can get away with stuff like this as if he is Trump he is crazy. Only Trump gets a pass from conservatives and the “you can do no wrong” card.

What other rich Texans escaped to warm climates? Any other politicians?

I place the blame on the energy companies. It’s been cold and icy in Texas many times. The power has gone out, but is always back on in a reasonable amount of time. What’s going on is outrageous. We don’t have ice in Dallas, just snow and you can drive. It’s cold, but no reason not to have electricity. Abbott seems clueless.

He deserves to get blasted.

That's your opinion, and you are entitled to it. Others would think you are wrong, though.

There’s not a single politician in Washington that gives a f--- about ANY ONE of us. Not one.

Kevin Kramer of North Dakota does. He's hardly prominent, he's borderline unpleasant, but he regularly climbs into the battle and leaves a few (figurative) bruises and black eyes behind him.

Ditto Greg Gianforte of Montana. He's sliced and diced the lying, cheating,sniveling Dems of his state, which was nearly all blue a half-dozen years ago, and now is loud and proud red, nearly from border to border.

He is also the only politician, of recent vintage that I know of, who b-slapped a reporter on the eve of his election to the House a few years ago...and saw his vote tally jump!

I despise the leftist politicians (Senators, Congress-critters, Governor) here in CT, but they are super-sensitive to optics and appear at disasters like ghouls, crying and sobbing and telling everyone how much they care.

Is it shallow and lying? Yes.

But—the fact that they are _so_ good at it is one reason it is hard to get rid of them.

Politicians who are bad at it just don’t last....

He’s special. No freezing in the dark for him. No boiling water for his special family. Broken pipes? Snap his fingers and dozens of plumbers show up.
Nope. He’s in Cancun reading about the disaster his constituents are dealing with. What could he do? How about being here! Experiencing what his “voters” are dealing with? It is sickening how many people give a pass to the “special” people. Why can’t he deal with Texas issues? FGS! He represents TEXAS not DC!

Shame on you that you don’t think conservatives should do PATHETIC, PHONY VIRTUE SIGNALING the same as the Left does.

Do I really need the sarc tag?

Forget Cruz.

WHAT IS BIDEN DOING? Does he even know where Texas is? How many folks have died because of BIDEN’s failed response.

Why should he have stuck around?

Let me count the ways:

1) Because this is almighty governmental cluster foxtrot and he damn well owns a chunk of it.

2) As a senator he has the juice to get things done/needed/acquired and is in a far better position to do it if he’s close enough to get in someone’s grill.

3) Optics do matter and bugging out looks as bad as it is.

4) You don’t learn from your mistakes by running away from them.

You’re right. He could held you close, wrapped you in a cocoon of caring and made the cold go away. He could have soothed you and made you feel loved.

No, the virtual signaling is him coming back even though he doesn’t give a damn. He should just stay in Cancun.

“Jake Sherman
@JakeSherman
Here’s the upgrade list for this afternoon’s flight from Cancun to Houston.

Looks like ⁦
@tedcruz
⁩ is on his way back, ⁦
@danpfeiffer
⁩. He’s just narrowly missing the upgrade list

That’s assuming that “cru, r” is him. And I do.”

The power has gone out, but is always back on in a reasonable amount of time.

Here along the Gulf coast, we used to have an electric company called GSU (Gulf States Utilities). After hurricane Rita in 2005, they were absolute wonder workers, getting poles and lines back up working day and night, but it cost them so much they never could recover. In comes our current supplier Entergy and it has never been the same. We are pretty rural and for many years our power would be out with just a good gust of wind but it was always-always back on in an hour or 2 at the most. Now if we have a power out, we might as well try to find a motel room in a neighboring town because you can bet it will turn into a 24 or 48 hour deal. I've been around long enough to see the difference.

If anyone is dumb enough to vote for Beta (sic) because Cruz bugged out, said voters deserve what they get.

People: STOP LETTING THE UNIPARTY PICK YOUR POLS FOR YOU.

Aaaaaaargh.

Millions upon millions care. I don’t really, but that’s the situation. This would be similar to if a NY senator didn’t cancel his vacation on 9/15. It’s about as bad as it gets.

Please stay in your elite liberal safe space. We’ll be fine as long as you leftist pukes stay the hell away from Texas. Illegal leeches from the south and socialist losers from the north. 🤬

This is just as much about prevent future eff ups as it is fixing THIS one.

Cruz needs to be there and get his nosed rubbed in this so he doesn’t screw up again.

How do you store natural gas on-site at an electric generating plant? Or at a natural gas processing plant?

That is a shockingly liberal philosophy. You want someone to resign because you disagree with something they did that was entirely legal and entirely moral.

That’s quite the unreasoned thought process.

I guess i could somewhat understand that if this were, say, the governor of Texas. Although there is nothing he can really do either, aside from making phone calls to get things moving on aiding the citizens of his state- which he can do from anywhere in the world...

But Ted Cruz has zero real authority in Texas to make such moves... so why does it matter that he is on vacation?

Oh but he should resign!

(shaking my head a bit on this one...)
