The actual blimps are owned by the federal government and are Army surplus, most having been used in Afghanistan and the Middle East. The contractors hired by the operating companies are, in many cases, veterans who were trained by the federal government when they were in active military service, Cuellar said...

Surveillance systems over the busiest part of the border for illegal traffic, are being suddenly shut off.
I expected them to open the doors for illegal immigrants, but the speed and scale (and sheer brazenness) has been shocking. They just don't seem to care so much anymore about convincing people that they are really protecting the border.

The only reason the left constantly opposes physical barriers, but touts “virtual”, or “smart” technology is that a wall, once built, can’t just be turned off. All of the technological surveillance can easily be turned off on a whim to allow the illegals to pour in.
Anything to turn TX blue ASAP is their goal.
Disaster.
Isn’t this the “virtual fence” they told us that replaced the need for any physical fence?
And they say that the fence doesn’t actually work and then they say that Biden should tear down the fence.
So mothballing these eyes in the sky is not about expense, but opposition to border security.
And why wouldn’t their “Smart” plan be to reduce our defenses to an absolute minimum just in time for China Joe’s invited caravans to get here?

Mexico posted a record spike in coronavirus cases on Friday, with 21,366 newly confirmed infections, about double the daily rate of increase just a week ago. The country also recorded 1,106 more deaths.
It was unclear if the spike was due to the presence of the U.K. virus variant, of which only one case has so far been confirmed in a visiting British citizen.
The country has now seen almost 1.61 million total infections and has seen registered over 139,000 deaths so far in the pandemic.
The country’s extremely low testing rate means that is an undercount, and official estimates suggest the real death toll is closer to 195,000. So little testing is done that 8% of all those who got a test later died during recent weeks; normally, only people with severe symptoms are tested.

Trudeau said in addition to the pre-boarding test Canada already requires, the government will be introducing mandatory PCR testing at the airport for people returning to Canada.
“Travelers will then have to wait for up to three days at an approved hotel for their test results, at their own expense, which is expected to be more than $2,000,” Trudeau said.

No doubt having one of those hovering would make coyotes nervous - they never know when they are being watched or photographed.
Pulling them out of the sky is a very visible signal to the cartels, that their investments in US politicians (Henry Cuellar, perhaps?) is paying off.
