This means he is now free to vote to convict DJT in the senate.

He hinted to that the day the House passed the article of impeachment.

“As I said yesterday, the attack on the US Capitol was an attack on democracy itself, and the President bears some responsibility for what occurred...

Today the House voted to impeach the President for his role in the events of January 6. If the Senate proceeds with an impeachment trial, I will do my duty as a juror and listen to the cases presented by both sides..."

I suspect he received quite a bit of pushback for that statement, and decided to retire. Based on the above statement, he seems very open to voting to convict and bar from holding public office.

Hopefully, Trump can get a MAGA oriented person to run...?

Watch out for Cocaine Mitch and DeWine to cook up a nice juicy RINO...someone like Kasich, who has been everything but Senator in Ohio...

Romney a given. From what I have heard, Sasse is not onboard because he believes it is unconstitutional.

Whatever. HIs only semi-redeeming quality is he isn’t Sherrod Brown.

He won’t be missed but the Ohio GOP is soft - unless somehow Jim Jordan runs it’ll be another purple RINO.

Thankfully, however, the Ohio Democrats are in even worse disarray and will likely put up an even worse candidate so the seat is likely to stay Republican.

I have written and called this RHINO’s office numerous times. In my Last correspondence I made it perfectly clear that our Election Integrity was Sub Banana Republic and must be fixed immediately on a National Level - starting with removal of internet connected Voting Machines.

Well he contacted me and stated “ There was No Election Fraud that could be proven “

He confirmed that he is and always has been a true
Rat Bastard. Dave Joyce or Jim Jordan would be excellent in that Position

Portman was bad but Sherrod Brown is almost insane and constantly working on it.

Time to clean house, er the Senate of Democrat traitors and GOP flea-infested RINOs.

This may be a signal that Portman intends to vote for President Trump’s impeachment.

I hope not.

If he does, he will live only in infamy.

Sherrod-up in 2024. Can’t wait. Jordan should go for it now. Better yet Portman resigns after the impeachment vote and Jordan gets appointed.

Love to see Jordan in the Senate. he has paid his dues and earned it. But he is not a fat cat Republican, he speaks for the ordinary American, like Trump does.

The Ohio legislator was elected to the Senate eight years ago after serving in the house from 1993 to 2015. Sen. Rob Portman’s family founded and expanded a material-handling distributor. Much of his money is held in bonds and mutual funds, though he has real estate holdings worth about $1.4 million. His largest investment is an interest in Lebanon House Inc., which owns the Golden Lamb Inn, the oldest continuously operating company in Ohio.

And from a 2018 article...

No. 49 on the list is Sen. Rob Portman, R-Cincinnati. He has a net worth of $8.6 million.

From Roll Call’s analysis:

Portman was elected to the Senate eight years ago, the same year his father died and made the new senator one of the richest members of Congress. Bill Portman started a small forklift company in Cincinnati and grew it into the Portman Equipment Co., a large material-handling distributor. Much of the senator’s money is held in a mix of bonds and mutual funds, but he also has real estate holdings worth at least $1.4 million. His largest investment remains his interest in Lebanon House Inc., a family enterprise that owns the Golden Lamb Inn, which opened in 1803 and is the oldest continuously operating business in Ohio. The senator now owns it with his siblings.
