Thursday during an appearance on “CNN Tonight,” Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said while she was skeptical Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was going to work toward whipping his members to convict President Donald Trump in impeachment proceedings, she argued the effort was still important to prevent a future Trump run for president.
Hirono told CNN’s Don Lemon this impeachment bid was different from the failed effort from Democrats a year ago.

Why bother? What with your democrat fraud and cheating, you now have the tools to prevent all republicans from ever holding public office again.
I think it is to tie all of us conservatives in with what they characterize as “Trump’s treason.” If they convict him, the rest of us are guilty of conspiracy. And anything they do to us is justified.

In Florida, Alcee Hastings was impeached and removed from a Federal judgeship for bribery and perjury by a Democrat controlled House and Senate. The Senate did not preclude him from holding office again, so that apparently is not set in stone. He is now a Florida House representative.

Being excluded from holding federal office again is a separate penalty that must be voted on apart from guilty or not guilty.

Trump is the best organizing issue the Democrats have ever had.
If they really wanted to do this, they’d use Article 3 of the 14th amendment, since that would only take a majority in both houses instead of 2/3 in the Senate.
You don’t understand. They don’t need no steenkin Constitution. The law is what they say it is since there are no consequences for their misdeeds.

Using this process for the purpose of dictating to the American people whom they can and can’t vote for is a massive abuse of power, along being completely unethical.
It’s also an admission that PDJT didn’t do anything, they just want to be rid of him. They didn’t give him due process. This has completely cheapened the impeachment process.
If this is the new normal we should be impeaching Biden on day one - quid pro quo with Ukrainian officials, admittance of the ‘greatest voter fraud organization in history’, etc..
...of course we’ll see nothing. The media will say nothing. The republicans will do nothing....and they wonder why PDJT is so popular.
Why isn’t this bitch dead yet? I recall reading around the time of Impeachment I that she had terminal cancer. Satan must be keeping her alive to annoy the rest of us.
