At that time our society was pretty much evenly split - those who wanted war with Britain (patriots) and those who wanted war with France (tories).

I have been to England twice and have been to London, Canterbury, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Oxford, York, Carlisle, and Hadrian’s Wall, but I am in no hurry to go there again. The last time I was there I was struck by how much public drunkenness there was, and someone stole my camera.
