Easy answer. Because of Donald Trump who didn’t send the UN enough money to stop climate change which led to big waves and death.
You know the thought occurs to me, in a couple of weeks, you can probably literally threaten to kill Donald Trump and nobody will care. In fact, you might even get a job.
That jetty on Humboldt bay takes a handful of people every year. Not a good place to be.
This is California guys, we take Stupid Seriously
Big waves, stupid people.
Sneaker waves. Every so often, one comes up.

Obvious conspiracy
happens every year around here,, mostly new citizens who just dont respect the ocean imho..

“Real answer: Rouge Waves.”
Yes, Ive seen signs warning of Rogue Waves since I moved to CA 21 years ago. I don’t know if the number of drownings have increased.
I think we should ban the ocean. Trump was seen at least once swimming in the ocean so it must be collusion. Also it has that dihydrogen monoxide that is used by many military applications.
For the children of course.
“Rouge Waves.”
Red waves? I like sparkling blue waves myself.
*Rogue” waves are to be avoided, though.
Mavericks is doing great. Surf’s Up.
Yes, they're called LIFE PRESERVERS!
Regards,
When the sailors of old came around the horn and started exploring the pacific along our west coast, it was noted how dangerous the northern parts were. The ocean here (norther CA) on up is beautiful but treacherous.
Heck the USS Milwaukee ended up beached up by Eureka in early 1917. She was Overcome by waves and wind when trying to salvage a sub that had run aground. She could not be moved, and sat there till 1918 when a storm broke her in two.
The northern coast is quite vicious.
They’re just returning to the Deep Old Ones.
That Ocean out there is anything but PACIFIC - I’ll stay on the relatively benign (and mostly sandy-shored) Atlantic ...
But no hurricanes in Calliforny!
About that globull warming. We had snow a couple days ago. Just a dusting but was more than we’ve had in 50 years.
Who did they vote for?
“It isn’t Panama City, FL out there. The Pacific is cold, rough, and dangerous. I haven’t enjoyed being in the ocean at any California beach north of Coronado.”
Don’t get too complacent down here, either.
