President Donald Trump publicly acknowledged that he would leave office on January 20 for the first time Thursday, pledging an orderly transfer of power after Congress affirmed President-elect Joe Biden's Electoral College win.
"Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th," Trump said in the statement, repeating false claims he has made throughout the last two months. "I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it's only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again."

I am also confused by this thinking.
On the one hand, if the standard interpretation is followed, Trump would simply be saying that he won’t cause trouble, he will provide for an orderly transition to Biden.
People are hoping that he is transitioning to his own second term? And they think he is saying this will be orderly? Trump is too smart to say a stupid thing like that. I understand that some still hope he’ll get a second term. Fine. I guess it could happen. But there is NO WAY that will be an orderly transition and everyone knows it.

Personally I think the message was written by a staffer and not Trump. It was release because of what happened yesterday in an attempt to deflect criticism, and quite possibly without Trump’s knowledge or approval. And that Trump’s real thoughts will come out between now and the 20th.
Even if Trump did succeed, with both congress and the senate dem they would impeach him asap or assassinate him. The timing is better in 4 years if we can work at the state level to change and enforce the voting laws, plus vote out all rino scum.

The Pearl Clutchers, particularly in the Republican Party, were almost dying of apoplexy because the supposedly sacred precincts of Congress were invaded while the precincts of Minneapolis and Seattle are defined as less sacred? A line was crossed? Buahahahahahahahaha!

Agree. Stop feeding the beast. Buy second hand clothes and other items at Goodwill, flea markets, auctions or yard sales. Buy food at farmer’s markets. Plant a backyard garden in the spring to grow vegetables and herbs. When you have to buy new items buy from local businesses, not the big chains.
Don’t feed the Amazon beast. It takes a few seconds to competitively shop online. In almost every situation you can find another retailer whose prices are as good or better than Amazon. I’ll pay a couple of dollars more to buy an item from an independent online retailer instead of Amazon.
Start attending meetings of your local government. Many today are being conducted on Zoom and citizens can speak. Get to know your neighbors by walking the neighborhood and talking to them and by communicating on Next Door. Volunteer to serve on local government panels. In my village there are several appointed citizen boards helping the town council develop policy. These are feeder positions to running for town council. Attend the local school board meeting and ask questions about the curriculum.
If every person on Free Republic spent an hour or two per week being involved in local government it would make a difference. One of the major reasons our country is going down the tube is the left is organized and engaged with government at all levels. They are the only voice in the room. To take the country back we have to do it at the grassroots level by filling the appointed boards, serving on town councils, and working to promote a different agenda. It is much more difficult for the town council to vote for wasteful spending when the room is full of citizens who oppose the expenditure.
One other thought. Get some friends together build a website and start a local online newspaper. Provide straight news about what is going on in your community. Profile local businesses. Have citizen volunteer reporters attend local government sessions and write up a synopsis of the meeting. Interview local officials and post the interviews in your online paper. Give local clubs and organizations a forum to speak to the community about their activities. Provide a calendar of upcoming government meetings and encourage people to attend.
Make the news section 100% fact based. Gain credibility by not mixing news and opinion. Let the opinion section stand out separately and distinctly. Follow this formula and you will quickly gain credibility and develop a readership. People are craving facts and trustworthy sources of hard news. Build the product they crave and the world will come to your door.
Finally, start being an ambassador for good in a world becoming increasingly mean and harsh. Say hello to strangers you encounter and smile. Smile and tell people you engage with every day to “have a nice day”. Don’t show anger when you encounter difficult people, they will only become more difficult. When someone you encounter does a good job thank them for helping you or compliment them for doing an excellent job. An army of people conveying winning positive attitude can change the world.

Washington, D.C., Police Chief Robert Contee said the dead on Wednesday included a woman who was shot by the U.S. Capitol Police, as well as three others who died in “medical emergencies.”
I assumed all were shot.

Also the shooting was not done by Capitol Police, but by an older man in a suit, either private security of a member of Congess or staff, or a Congressman.
