California Has Worst Coronavirus Outbreak in U.S. — and Some of the Tightest Restrictions

The State of California officially has the worst coronavirus outbreak in the country — as well as some of the tightest restrictions.

California is now reporting the highest number of new daily COVID-19 cases per capita in the country.

Last week, the state reported the nation’s fourth highest number of daily COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents over a seven day period, but California jumped to first place when the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its case per capita tracker Saturday.

The state is posting the country’s worst COVID-19 numbers despite a new stay-at-home order that took effect in most of the state in early December. Cellphone data suggests compliance is low, and some have speculated the state’s strict restrictions contributed to the winter explosion.

Restrictions have become tighter in California even as other states have been able to relax some of their rules. In Los Angeles, even walking has been forbidden except for particular purposes (though the rule is not enforced).

Yawn. Well, caulifornia always like's to take the lead in stuff so..................... Restrictions yeah. Compliance? Who knows. Over here in NV, gov sissypants has told us that if we raise the mask compliance rate to 95% from 78% we could lick this. If we don't behave, he said he may need to re-asses the issue and become more restrictive on our liberties. Owwwwwww, skerred now.

California has a death rate that puts it like 40th in rank from worst death to best.

And yet, despite the u.n. and the who’s best efforts, the death rate world wide remains at 100%. Nobody getting out of this alive. Yet.

Neither do patriots.

There are now probably 25,000,000 people jammed in an area of 140 miles long, between Ventura and San Diego. It’s like a giant bubbling petri-dish of bacteria and viruses flying around, jumping from one host to another.

How many “positive” with no symptoms?

How many in hospital due to ChiComPhlu alone?

How many dead due to ChiComFlu alone?

These reports are worthless, on purpose.

Spread the fear because spreading the Phlu is a bust.

And, I believe they are exempted from the “restrictions”.

Well, goes to show all of the “rules” don’t apply to this illness. Someone must be severely punished for causing all of the hardship for people.

California has a much higher testing rate than the national average. Like our favorite President said, more tests mean more cases. Don’t be fooled by Newsom and Company.

I wish Gilda Radner was still around to do Emily Latina ranting about California’s tight, restricting pants until she’s corrected that it’s about CV19 restrictions.

People ARE quite aware of what’s happening in California and they are fighting. But you do know there’s a vise stronghold on their governing bodies which puts up barriers very difficult to overcome if not impossible at this time.

They are currently fighting to get the Governor out.

Leave it to California to make Ugly Bull Dyke Karens into hair cops! The two lovelies just busted an evil hair salon in Stockton, a California Crime capitol!

8 or 9 months ago, broad-brush restrictions were applied when we knew little of the virus and had little demographics about the impact.

Today we know a lot more and have tons of demographic data to show who and where the infection hits.

Yet to use the same broad brush approach as months ago, and even make it a punishment rather than a prevention, is sheer lunacy. Unless, perhaps, you are a liberal and have longer term agenda

Correct as to 40th out of 50 states in terms of deaths per million. Deaths are a much better measure of the severity of the plague than cases. People do have multiple tests; one the quick one and one that takes 5-7 days. Two positives probably are counted as two cases.

California has almost as many test taken as population, 32 million vs 39 million. So the case frequency is very high, but the case mortality rate is only .014.

New York has a lower case rate but much higher death rate at nearly 2000 deaths per million population. Its case mortality is .039.

Which state has had the bigger problem and needs the most severe measures?

Of course it is not a simple problem because the above numbers are cumulative and the current dynamics are more important.

I think NY proves that long term lock downs don’t have much effect, The virus is out there and will kill its victims eventually until the vaccines take hold. Lots of businesses will have died for no reason.
