Pompeo blames Russia for ‘significant’ cyber attack on US government agencies, companies

Russia was "pretty clearly" behind a devastating cyber attack on several US government agencies that also hit targets worldwide, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.

Microsoft said late Thursday that it had notified more than 40 customers hit by the malware, which security experts say could allow attackers unfettered network access to key government systems and electric power grids and other utilities.

"There was a significant effort to use a piece of third-party software to essentially embed code inside of US government systems," Pompeo told The Mark Levin Show on Friday.

"This was a very significant effort, and I think it's the case that now we can say pretty clearly that it was the Russians that engaged in this activity."

eh..mebbee...IMHO far easier to see Russia being set up by China using its US traitor cutouts making it happen.

Would hope not...but would be surprised otherwise

If so, then blame Russia and let them deal with China.

It’s Biden’s crowd in Ukraine who all speak Russian and who just as easily as any half assed hacker can make it look like the point of origin is somewhere they’re not.

Russia is an ally of China, as well as other hostile nations like Venezuela and Cuba. Putin and the Russian government have done an effective job in fooling many conservatives and libertarians that it is now a Orthodox Christian nation because the leaders are seen at liturgy on occasion and the current government maintains Soviet era restrictions on sexual perversion. The revival of Tsarist era flags and symbols gives the impression that the current regime is nationalist.

But as John Mitchell, Nixon's Attorney General, told Republican liberals, watch what we do, not what we say. Russian military alliance with China and other anti American powers is indicative of Putin's real intentions. It is possible that the Russians did perform the cyberattack. Pompeo is a Trump ally, and to my knowledge is not a Deep Stater. But if the Russians did it, it was with the connivance of China. Beijing wants to keep a low profile as they are likely a big player in the election fraud.

Our President normally does not make claims that over time are proven false, the opposite in fact, they are always proven 100%.

This Russia did it story is also getting air on fake news, that Never happens unless they are trying to cover for something.

Your right, the Denmark odor is ripe on this stuff.

A computer hacker expert on TV yesterday said he does not think Russia has the capability to do the sophisticated massive hack that was done.

That leaves china.

Re: "devastating cyber attack on several US government agencies"

More like a "breach" than an attack.

Six full days since this was discovered, and no one has confirmed any sabotage or any data extraction.

Every article I read on this is the same...

One paragraph full of "appears to be" and "believed to be" sentences.

Followed by one paragraph of maniacal attacks on Donald Trump for allowing the worst hack in American history.

And, blaming Russia?

I have no idea who hacked us.

But if our politically corrupt intelligence community says Russia, then I am 100% certain it is NOT Russia!

The back door was inserted last spring and presumably used since then. That's plenty of time to do some serious damage. The company says there are "fewer than 18,000" vicitims (not sure if that means servers or customers) with the backdoor. In the big picture that's actually a small number of vicitims, but there are some high profile victims on enterprise servers. We may never figure out what they stole, and it will take weeks or months to remove the other back doors that have been planted via the Orion back door.

Unconfirmed, but hearing second hand that intel people are saying this was definitely NOT Russia and “could” easily be China . . . or the CIA.

Lol...did the "Russians" leave their fingerprints all over their hack again?

You'd think "hackers" this good wouldn't keep doing that over and over again.

Cue Pavlov's dog...
