You're correct. The OP links to an article dated May 9, 2009.

Incidentally, IIRC, Acorn defended against these charges of fraudulent registrations by pointing to some law (state? federal? not sure). Organizations doing voter registration drives were required to submit all the completed forms they received. This makes sense, so that ACORN couldn't just shred the Republicans' forms. It meant, however, that if some comedian filled in a form as Mickey Mouse, ACORN was legally required to submit it.

Presumably, ACORN could still be charged if it encouraged fraudulent registrations. I don't recall whether anything of that sort was ever proved.
