Electoral College hands White House to Biden
Washington Examiner ^ | December 14, 2020 | Naomi Lim

The Electoral College has met to confirm Joe Biden as the president-elect.

Despite President Trump's lawsuits challenging the results of the Nov. 3 election against Biden, 538 electors from all 50 states and Washington, D.C., convened Monday, and by Monday evening, they had given Biden the 270 votes he needed to claim the White House.

Biden was expected to end the meeting with 306 electoral votes to Trump's 232, reflecting the popular votes from each of the jurisdictions.

The gathering garnered more attention this cycle after key Republicans, such as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, made it the deadline for him to acknowledge Biden as the president-elect.

Recommended For You "The Electoral College will determine the winner," McConnell said.

Outside of legal challenges, there is still one mechanism Trump allies can use to thwart Biden temporarily: a House lawmaker and a senator can question the election results during a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6.

Alabama Republican Rep. Mo Brooks has already indicated he's likely to question the results. The strategy, however, requires the support of the House, which is controlled by Democrats, though with a narrow margin.

As of 5 p.m., there had been no faithless electors nor a group of pro-Trump alternative electors alluded to Monday morning by White House adviser Stephen Miller.

Miller told Fox and Friends that Trump would likely dispute the election in courts until Biden's inauguration on Jan. 20.

"We have more than enough time to right the wrong of this fraudulent election result and certify Donald Trump as the winner of the election," he said. "As we speak today, an alternate slate of electors in the contested states is going to vote, and we're going to send those results up to Congress."

Texas electors also voted 34-4 to push Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin's Republican-led legislatures to appoint their more pro-Trump electors despite Biden taking those states.

Here’s how I see it since the swing states now have DUELING SLATE of ELECTORS:

The Electoral Count Act (ECA) of 1887 says each chamber of Congress will separately decide which slate of ‘dueling electors’ to accept.

The new congress that will be sworn in on January 3 will be the ones doing the count.

The Senate would vote for the Vice President. Republicans currently hold the Senate.

The House of Representatives would choose the President however it is not one vote per lawmaker like it is in the senate.

The House in each state gets one vote and with the new Congress, Republicans will have the advantage with 27 of the state delegations – a candidate needs 26 votes to win the White House.

If the two chambers disagree, we could end up in uncharted territory, though experts typically say that electors approved by each state’s “executive” should prevail.

That doesn't sound like what I've been hearing.

I suspect they are saying it so that it sounds like it's a done deal and if it gets overturned, then it's a coup by Trump and he *stole* the White House.

The media are corrupt, immoral liars and trying to decide for us who is going to rule over us.

More fake news...

Until the votes are validated by the joint session of congress on Jan 6, counted by VP Pence, and all disputes redressed and remedied pursuant to the laws of the constitution... ah, no.

All that happened today is the EC delegates dropped their votes in the ballot box.

The ballot box gets emptied and are then transmitted to congress.

Then on Jan 6, the ballots are opened, counted and if challenged, are contested until resolved as described above.

So, is it over?

That depends.

In FR’s shrinking and unpopular “Reality-based Community” it’s over.

In FR’s seemingly growing “Fantasy-based Community” there are still many, many avenues to re-election for President Trump.

Not even close. This is where it gets REALLY interesting. Buckle up. We’re getting close to the final option.

The Electoral College has met to confirm Joe Biden as the president-elect.

THIS IS FAKE NEWS

All Electoral Votes are Sealed and until Vice President Pence opens them and counts them NOBODY really knows Anything. Nothing Prevents Pence from REFUSING to Count any States Votes if there is still a Controversy over the Vote, and it looks like all these 5 States will still have them on January 6 2021. Then it will be a Contested Election, the House will CHuse the President and that will be Donald J Trump.
