Here's a list of crimes on LA's new DA's do-not-prosecute list

George Gascon institutes a new 'prosecutorial approach'

George Gascon, Los Angeles County's new head prosecutor, unveiled an agenda Monday that will usher in changes to the local criminal justice system by his refusal to prosecute certain crimes on top of other sweeping changes.

Gascon, a former San Francisco District Attorney and former Los Angeles police officer, announced in a series of policy directives that many misdemeanor cases will be dismissed, saying that nearly half of those incarcerated on pre-trial misdemeanor offenses suffer from mental illness.

"Los Angeles County courts should not be revolving doors for those in need of treatment and services," one directive said.

As of Tuesday, many misdemeanor cases will be declined or dismissed prior to arraignment unless "factors for considerations" exist. The list of offenses includes trespassing, disturbing the peace, a minor in possession of alcohol, driving without a license, driving with a suspended license, making criminal threats, drug and paraphernalia possession, being under the influence of a controlled substance, public intoxication, loitering to commit prostitution and resisting arrest.

In addition, prosecutors will not seek the death penalty and those accused of misdemeanors and low-level felonies will be referred to community-based programs.

For juveniles, those accused of misdemeanors will no longer be prosecuted.

"Our prosecutorial approach should be biased towards keeping youth out of the juvenile justice system and when they must become involved, our system must employ the “lightest touch” necessary in order to provide public safety," Gascon said in another order.

Then we should stop calling them crimes. Legislatures and city councils should revoke such laws.

Sounds like a prescription for social decline. Yesterday I had an eye doctor appointment in Seattle, and on my way home I stopped at a well-known local drive-in restaurant. A half a block away is a homeless encampment consisting of 20-40 tents crowded into a mini-park. It has been there for months. Such encampments exist throughout Seattle, and are now spreading to the suburbs.

Easy Peasy: If you eliminate all laws and prosecution, you will have no crime. Elementary.

Sounds stupid to me, but Gascon won the election, and everybody knew his platform when he was running. People have a right to vote for the kind of government they want.

I’m frankly quite happy that “resisting arrest” is no longer being prosecuted as a stand-alone charge by an increasing number of district attorneys including a few Republicans.

In the absence of a charge justifying an arrest why should anyone be arrested at all?

Most of the time you see this charge on its own it’s what’s called a “contempt of cop” charge where a cop is 100% wrong on why they stopped someone and instead of letting it go they come up with a BS charge just to harass someone.

Taking video of the police? You’re resisting arrest.

Refusing to let the police enter and search your house without a warrant? You’re resisting arrest.

The cops mistake you for someone else and they attack you and beat the sh!t out of you before they discover they have the wrong person? You’re resisting arrest.

Legally carrying a firearm in a Democrat controlled town and the police stop you and illegally seize your firearm? You’re resisting arrest.

Yeah, I’m glad this particular charge is getting tossed out. It’s long overdue.

How California goes, so does the nation. If you ever want to see how screwed we are, just look at Cali and then look at hw far their madness spread. By doing some analysis you can figure the approximate year when your state will go to crap.

The only thing they will prosecute is Whitey trying to work or not wearing a mask, unless homeless. No money to be made there.

Murder of a young woman walking with her father would be one of the crimes not to be prosecuted. Kate Steinle was murdered by an illegal alien in San Francisco and the then city prosecutor George Gascon failed to get a conviction.

Antifa encampments. Just offer them some stuff in exchange for engaging in rioting, and providing cover for the real Antifas.

In my CJ classes I always tell my students that there’s one easy way to reduce the crime rate, just make everything legal.

The end of :Broken Windows.” This will work out so well.....NOT!

I guess if commies can't 'defund the police' they can do the next best thing...

Anyone notice BLM criminals, Attifa thugs and Chinese commies NEVER call to 'defund' the FBI or the DOJ...
