Home Cannabis Cultivation Continues, Despite Opposition From Many Marijuana Companies

Home cultivation has emerged as a clear sticking point in cannabis reform across many states.

While it faces pushback, including from several cannabis brands, home grow is making incremental progress in medical and adult use markets, and ushering in a variety of parameters to meet state needs.

The issue has made more progress than other key advocate issues, such as social equity. Yet, industry professionals say more could be done to improve access and curb industry greed.

Those supporting home grow believe that it is a way to provide affordable cannabis to low income individuals, as well as to those customers who live in legal states, but have little access to products.

In my Norcal neighborhood people trade quart jars of buds, or give them away like summer tomatoes.

I'm astounded there is a commercial market.

In October the smell is everywhere. At least 1/2 of those with a backyard are hobbyists.

The only commercial market I see is the welfare medical cards. Your tax dollars are paying top price.

The home grower has alway been my major issue with the idea of controlling a substance that anyone with dirt can grow in their own home.

Cannabis is a plant that grows wild in almost every state in the union, maybe all.

How does government expect to control its cultivation?

Such control is inevitably going to be arbitrary.

If I grow it, I know how it was grown and harvested.

You injest this stuff; I wouldn’t trust some corporation to give a hoot about my body.

Growing good pot is a pain in the ass.

The plants are sensitive. They need a lot of attention.

I am not debating whether or not it should be legal. But if you do it right, it’s not a “weed.” Ha ha.

My high school friends grew their own.

One had a small plot in the woods near his home.

Another had a potted plant in his closet with a grow light.

They did alright.

A friend of mine says that his experience was the exact opposite. He says they're easier than tomatoes. You just have to make sure to keep the male plants away.

Yeah, growing good pot in the wild with decent strains isn’t hard. You’ll get seeds, but with good strong sun and decent rain, it’s good stuff.

On the other hand, if you want to grown mind-blowing stuff inside, then it is an endless cycle of checking lights, nutrients, ph levels, looking for bugs and isolating male plants as soon as they’re noticed.

The whole reason the industry exist is because of Government Greed.

If not for the hunger for more tax dollars cannabis would still be illegal.

“He says they’re easier than tomatoes.”

That’s what my next door neighbor says.

He grows 6 very large plants every year.

And gives it all away except for a quart jar he keeps for himself.

More than 5 lbs/yr.

The last movie I would watch is one you recommend. So far as I can tell, you’ve never written anything interesting. Except the profane private messages. Those are always a treat.

I wonder if everyone else knows what a threatening, abusive person you are?

Why?

Pot plants are easy?

I do have to add that the plants in question were grown in the Los Angeles basin, where it’s easy to grow just about anything.

Actually voted for a recent bill to legalize pot. Never in my life would I have ever thought I’d do that. the reason - it allowed for the home cultivation of a small number of plants.

Figured it would screw the cartels, the commercial dealers and the tax man - all a good thing.

Might as well let people learn the error of their ways as fast as possible.

as a fireman I answered a call to a house fire.
Had a fireplace and a log rolled out of it ,created a lot if smoke.
Cops and fireman standing in the living room.
I look over my shoulder.
The home owner had potted marijuana plants growing in the window.

Cops just standing there...i don’t think they knew what they were looking at
