While President Donald Trump continues to resist the American tradition of conceding his election defeat, he took part in another time-honored tradition Tuesday: Pardoning the National Thanksgiving Turkey.
The annual event typically serves as a light-hearted reprieve from the partisan rancor of Washington, with the president delivering remarks stuffed with bad puns and concluding with a playful pardon of a turkey.
This year, the atmosphere surrounding Tuesday's pardon was notably more subdued. The president has largely remained out of public view since his election defeat, not taking a single question from reporters in the three weeks since and has instead fired off angry missives on Twitter falsely claiming he won the election.
He has also largely ignored the coronavirus pandemic raging across the country, holding one event touting progress with vaccines while failing to acknowledge the U.S. COVID-19 death toll passing 250,000.
The president again ignored reporters' questions at Tuesday's event about whether he will concede, whether he plans to make another White House run in 2024 and if he plans to pardon himself. Earlier in the day, the president made a surprise appearance in the White House press briefing room, where he delivered remarks for just over a minute to tout the stock market and vaccine progress before promptly departing without taking questions.
In the first major sign of the president accepting the reality of his defeat, the Trump administration on Monday formally recognized the Biden transition, freeing up government resources and outgoing and incoming teams to coordinate. The president subsequently tweeted that the cooperation did not amount to a concession.

The stolen election has not been founded to be a false thing.
I am waiting for the headline, “As he ignores defeat, Trump sits down for dinner.”
No defeat to ignore.
But not ignoring theft.
Such shrill and obvious attempts by the legacy media to downplay President Trump’s clear landslide victory (but for cheating) only goes to prove that they greatly FEAR he will prevail.
There is no way 250,000 have died from covid. Gun shot wound? Died from covid, heart attack? Died from covid, 3 story fall? Died from covid.
It really is a Mickey Mouse outfit run by Goofy.
Why is there “no way”, exactly?
All other causes of death are at normal levels or slightly higher than normal. In fact, deaths from flu and pneumonia, dementia, cardiopulmonary issues, and other causes are also higher than usual this year. If every death were being shunted into the COVID-19 group, then other causes of death would be lower than normal and the overall number of deaths would be normal.
Haven’t you noticed that covid has cured all other diseases? Nobody is contracting or dying from anything else. It’s a miracle. 😏

That isn’t what the official reporting is saying. The official reporting is saying that all other causes of death are at or above normal levels. In other words, everyone we would expect to die from heart problems, cancer, gunshot wounds, suicide, car accidents - everything else besides COVID-19 - they’re all still dying from those things. We have 305,000+ additional deaths on top of those. We’ve had excess deaths every week since March.
And the 2020-2021 flu season has started. 122,000 flu tests have been performed since the end of September and 319 have come back positive.
Instead of attributing this post to Walt Disney - ABC, why not tell the truth and attribute it to Goofy.
You do understand that the seasonal flu is also a corona virus.
It is not.
Influenza virus is as closely related to the coronavirus family as humans are to snails. Humans and snails are both animals, but that’s where the similarities end. We don’t even share the same phylum.
