President Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, could become the next Trump on a ballot as she is reportedly considering a 2022 Senate run in her home state of North Carolina, according to a New York Times report on Thursday.
Three allies of Lara Trump told the Times that she has been telling associates she could run in two years to replace Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), who plans to retire at the end of his term.
The upcoming Senate race is likely to be tight after North Carolina became more of a battleground state in this year’s election. President Trump held onto the state by 1.3 percentage points — a smaller margin than in 2016, hinting that the Tar Heel State may be looking more purple.
The president’s daughter-in-law, a former personal trainer and television producer for Insider Edition, married Eric Trump in 2014.

I like her a lot.
Nice speakers ...God love her
She might as well. She’s a North Carolina native and obviously Bill Burr has to be replaced. It definitely doesn’t hurt that she’s gorgeous and that she’s a Trump.
North Carolina isn’t that much of a “battleground” state no matter how much the media wishes it were. We have a lousy Democrat Governor. But we have 2 Republican Senators, the US representatives are dominated by Republicans and the Republicans control both houses of the state legislature. Trump won the state twice.
I would enjoy my children while they were that young if I had her resources instead of getting into that crappy job.
I like it... Laura Trump 2022
We have already endured carpetbagger Senator Elizabeth Dole, who was NC born but lived most of her life outside NC. In 2001 she changed her residency from the Watergate complex in DC to her mother’s home in Salisbury, NC. She had not lived in NC since 1959,
She was elected to the Senate in 2002 and continued to maintain her fictitious “residence” in her mother’s NC home which she rarely visited, preferring the comfort of her DC condo where she and husband Bob enjoyed the DC social life. She was soundly defeated in her reelection bid in 2008 by the virtually unknown Kay Hagan. Hagan received 54% of the vote.
If Laura and Eric aren’t planning to relocate to NC, and actually live in the state, I don’t see her winning. People resented Dole being an absentee Senator and voted her out when it was clear she and husband Bob had no interest in the state. Given the experience with Dole, the Dems will have a field day with the carpetbagger label. Better to run Mark Meadows to replace Burr, and actually put big dollars behind him in the election for this critical seat.
Thom Tillis almost lost his re-election bid this year in NC. He was invisible to the people of the state during his first term until he had to run for re-election this year. If opponent Cal Cunningham’s infidelity had not been publicized before the election, he would have beat Tillis.
One of the major problems with Congress is too many Senators and Representatives spend little time in the areas they represent and are disconnected from the voters. They need to be returning to the state on weekends and during the many breaks. Senator Laura Trump will be headed north to NY, where her husband and children live, not to a real home in NC. For all his faults current Senator Richard Burr resides in Winston-Salem, and can be seen around town on weekends.
We have one other example of a wealthy carpetbagger GOP Senator. His name is Mitt Romney. How’s that working out for the people of Utah?
Good points. Mark Meadows would make an excellent Senator.
I was going to observe that being named “Trump” and having nipples were not very substantial qualifications for the Senate, but then I thought about the people who are already in the Senate and decided nipples are as valuable as a law degree.
What a world, what a world ...
I don’t know anything about her or her views. The fact that she’s related to Trump by marriage doesn’t mean much - Ron Reagan and Patty Davis are both Ronald Reagan’s kids, and I wouldn’t vote for either of them for any public position.
As much as I like her, my NC vote for her doesn’t mean a thing if this current Dominion issue isn’t resolved (and Trump re-elected).
Votes in any future races will depend solely on who’s spinning the dial.
She’s a ferocious supporter of the Trump Presidency
