A lot of what are being labeled as “new votes” are votes that have been cast during early voting, were mailed in and already received, and left in the drop boxes. In some states no counting could begin until Nov. 3. Other “new votes” may refer to votes that were mailed on or before Nov. 3, and are just now arriving at the counting location.
What surprises me as someone who studied polling in a class on psychology of public opinion is the weird predictions about voting and the actual voting. In a number of the nearly equal vote states, Biden was said to have from a 7 to 10 polling advantage. Obviously from the actual votes which have been better for President Trump than expected, there must be some explanation. One possibility is that polling was done by cell phone, but failed to tap into the elderly vote, or rural areas lacking good cell service. Another is that a number of people either lied about their choice or gave the answer they sensed the poll taker wanted to hear. Today I heard that a number of Republican Congresspeople or other down ballot candidates are getting more votes than the president. One argument for continuing the count is if the goal is to maintain the R vote in the Senate and defeating some D members of the House.
Since McConnel and other well known Republicans have won handily while the President’s race is close, and these votes were on the same pieces of paper, that argues against Democrat voter fraud.
I was watching Wisconsin. This shows the count at 95%. At 94% Trump was ahead by 109K votes.
