Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said he would like restaurants hire more staff that have previously contracted the coronavirus, according to The Daily Beast.
During a rally for Nick Freitas, a Republican candidate for Congress, in Central Virginia on Sunday, Paul suggested to a crowd that he would make the call himself if he had a restaurant.
"If I owned a restaurant, I’d have a whole wing for senior citizens or for anybody who is worried about getting sick, and I would say, 'All my servers have already had it,'" Paul told the crowd, according to The Daily Beast. "If I had a cruise ship ... everybody would have had the infection that works on the boat."
Paul also referred to his previous coronavirus diagnosis during the rally, saying that once you've had COVID-19, you are immune.
“I’ve had it. I can’t get it again,” Paul said, according to The Daily Beast. “I can’t give it to you, and I can’t get it.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released guidance contradicting Paul's stance. People are not immune to reinfection after recovering from the coronavirus, according to the CDC.
Paul contracted COVID-19 in March. He has publicly maintained that those who have had the virus do not need a face mask.
“I’m not telling you not to wear a mask,” Paul reiterated at the rally, according to The Daily Beast. “The cloth masks … I’m just telling you the truth, they don’t work. Ninety-seven percent of viruses go through a cloth mask.”
The CDC released guidance in August that stated wearing a mask is more sure to protect against the coronavirus than taking a vaccine.
There is something to this. I went to my first indoor restaurant on Sat since March, basically, and was seated with 10 people from 5 different households so not exactly an approved “social pandemic bubble cohort” or whatever.
Then I found out after some time that they guy across from me had covid in April, so I could relax more. I couldn’t infect him and he couldn’t infect me.
Herd immunity. It’s not a big deal but was a small comfort.
Since most the tests out there are false positive, this could be good way to destroy the existing narritive of the quarantine insanity
Rand Paul is a doctor, after all. And.....he did put Fauci on his butt a time or two during House testimony......
That’s a good idea, but there are also the other customers. Good building ventilation systems and filters would probably work better (see airlines).

Both the CDC and The Hill are stark raving nuts.
If you can be certain they’ve had it, then it makes perfect sense.
That, or the vaccines available are pretty crappy.
The USA is nowhere near herd immunity. SARS COVID II has a documented R0 of at least 2.4. I’ll save the class the calculus it means that for that level of transmission the population also known as the herd MUST have antibodies and long term Tcell immunity in 70% OR MORE of the entire population. Less than that and herd immunity is not scientifically nor medically possible. The current infection penetration rate in the USA is under 4% we are NO WHERE EVEN CLOSE to herd immunity. The only way to get to 70+ % penetration is with artificial inoculation via a vaccine or mass IV administrations of antibodies just like POTUS got via rendesivier. With a 4 % penetration rate over 200,000 Americans have died to get to 70% by raw in the wild infection you do the math it’s 5th grade level math. Only 4% of 330 million have documented infections even a 3 to one asymptomatic rate means only 16% at most have been exposed. And 3 to one is generously over estimating the asymptomatic to symptomatic rates.
Ask yourself why Japan has only had 97,000 COVID cases in a country that has 100+ million people at population densities that exceed new York City. They have one third the number of people than in the USA. They never shut down the subway not shutdown mass transit. So why do They have under two thousand deaths and under 100k cases. I can tell you having spent many weeks in Japan during flu seasons. The Japanese wear masks religiously, everywhere all the time and every one. That is the key difference between them and us. They have proven that masks and smart social distancing works the proof is in the numbers it’s undeniable they have been successful in stemming the flow. Pitch an antimask temper tantrum like toddlers but the data from Japan is clear. They never locked down, never shut the subways and restaurants are open. What’s different MASKS for everyone, everywhere all the time that’s the difference.
