Europe’s COVID second wave spike shows the futility of lockdowns and mask mandates, as well as the phoniness of the Dems’ criticism of Trump

I take no schadenfreude joy in the resurgence of Coronavirus in the European countries that have imposed drastic lockdowns and mask mandates. The enormous costs – economic, medical and psychological – of locking up the populace have not purchased any benefit. Vijeta Uniyal reports at Legal Insurrection:

Europe is experiencing the full fury of Wuhan coronavirus with the death toll surpassing that of the United States. “Across Europe, the number of infections since the start of the pandemic is now above 8.2 million and more than 258,000 people have died from COVID-19,” French TV network EuroNews confirmed on Saturday.

Germany is among the worst hit, with the number of deaths due to the Chinese virus crossing 10,000 on Saturday. “The rise in infections has spurred a number of local measures to be implemented across the country, and officials have warned of a national lockdown,” public broadcaster Deutsche Welle reported.

Rather than admit that viruses will spread virally, and lockdowns only delay this, Europe’s leaders, except in Sweden, are doubling down, “stuck on stupid,” in the immortal word of General Russel Honore.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday issued fresh warning, telling people to stay home. “Please stay at home, wherever possible, whenever possible,” she warned. ”The pandemic is spreading rapidly again, even faster than at the start of it more than half a year ago.”

The global left has embraced the fantasy that a virus can be stopped from spreading if governments force people to live in isolation, ignoring the reality that this only delays the spread and ultimately increases mortality. A rational policy protects the most vulnerable -- the elderly and those with serious comorbidities – with practical measures like home delivery of groceries

Daughter lives in New Mexico where there have been strict lockdowns, mandatory mask wearing and their numbers have gone way up. Democrat governor, go figure.

Wow. Another round.

But I wonder what the influenza rates are in this season. We are in the midst aren’t we?

So add A COVID surge to the annual flu season, and how many more cases of CODIF/FLU are there than normal?

Chinese-style hard lockdowns work.

Our soft lockdowns prolong the agony.

Masks have moderate effectiveness.

Masks won’t prevent the needless deaths caused by vaccine release delays made in the attempts to unseat Trump.

Has Angela stayed home this whole time?

Essential worker?

What about her job is essential? Let alone the travel.

Hunker down and sleep in your mask!

Do we have enough welders to keep Americans in their apartments?

Regarding the article you posted about Japan, this is interesting: “This has led many people to claim that the nation simply hasn’t had a spread of Covid and that their “social norms” protected them from the virus being transmitted between people, despite the fact that seasonal influenza has nearly 2-1/2 times the death rate in Japan as it does here in the US, and thus is an utterly illogical claim made without evidence.”

What I also found interesting, and what I did not realize about Japan, is just how much into bidets they are there.

I have seen a couple articles in which the author theorizes that COVID is spread more through fecal matter than respiratory droplets. This would explain why nursing homes are hit more by it as well as how it impacts people who live together and share a bathroom (as opposed to people who might live together in a large enough house to have their own bathrooms).

Not to be gross, but it would be interesting to know regarding people who got COVID what some of their bathroom experiences were.

For instance, if an outbreak is “traced” say to a funeral or wedding, were people who spent more time in the bathroom at the event hit harder?

For crises such as pandemics and climate change,
free citizens in a free society cope best when they are allowed to function in accordance with their own independent rational judgments and choices, based on well-formedness criteria and their own personal self-interest, and not be crippled by government regulations, controls, interventionism, force, central planners, experts, and bureaucrats. Government actions must be minimized as much as possible because they either make the current problems worse, or create new problems that end up being worse than the original problem.

You trust the reporting comping out of CCP controlled China? The same CCP that early this year said Covid was not airborne?

The Europeans just need to talk to Joe Biden about his plan. If they knew what he knows the virus would have already been cured at least according the the Democrats

RE: So what’s happened in chiner?

No reports of any major outbreaks in the big cities — Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Nanjing or even Wuhan.

There are reported outbreaks in cities in the minority provinces though.
