Could Weird Austin Go Red? Local GOP Says Dems Are Donating to Republicans in Record Numbers
PJ Media ^ | 10/22/2020 | Megan Fox

Austin has long been the blue dot in Texas’ red sea. But that could change soon.

The Travis County GOP Communications Director Andy Hogue says there’s every reason for citizens of Austin to be optimistic about Republican races this year. Hogue told PJ Media, “Democrats are donating to us in unprecedented numbers. We’ve never seen this before.” Hogue says that the local GOP recognizes regular donors but when new names started coming in, they started looking them up to see who they are.

“We kept finding Democrats who have never donated before.”

Two seats on the all-Democrat Austin City Council are hotly contested. Newcomer Republican candidate Mackenzie Kelly is challenging in District 6, doing well, and could deliver an upset.

Hogue says that Austin has become a tent city since the far-left takeover of the city council. The people of Austin are not happy with the mess and the huge increase in crime that came with defunding the police budget by a third. Louis C. Herrin III is running for the other contested seat on the council, opposing the far-left agenda and supporting law and order.

Austin was safer before Greg Casar! Vote him out! This is not humane, compassionate or safe! One of my top priorities is to reinstate the public camping ban! #votelouisherrin pic.twitter.com/FH8eOaAh1P

I lived in Austin from 92-2000. Such a fun city. Young with restaurants out the wazoo but the liberalism is getting to be too much. Even for the socialist Austinites.

In 92 the city bought a dozen house boats and lined them up along Town Lake (which runs thru downtown Austin). These were for the homeless to come and go as they pleased. Drugs, rapes, robberies all went up 300% overnight in that area. You could not go near this place at anytime and it was near the convention center, a park, the running path etc. The boats lasted 2 weeks.

That’s the kind of BS they keep doing. Experimenting with irresponsible and failed ideas.

If Austin elects a RED (R) then the world will quake. If that does happen it will be the biggest shot across the Left’s bow ever.

Trump 2016 was a pretty good shot across the Left's bow.

Texas will prove to be a solid Republican, from Loving County to Harris County. There are no more Democrat counties in the Lone Star State.

LOVE it!!

Hope this guy, Herrin, wins the City Council seat.

Maybe Austin is getting tired of being SO FREAKING weird/lib/homeless tents/etc.

I pray the good folks of my home state does exactly that. If Travis goes Red the Dim’s have no future ever running for election in Texas.

???

You’re saying Harris County, Travis County, Bexar County and El Paso County will all vote and then turn RED/Republican, w/this election?

The Californians I know who have left CA for Austin are Republicans.

The liberals who flee CA go to Reno or Oregon. The conservatives who flee CA go to TX.

Everywhere little indicators of a Trump tidal wave:
MI has moved 3 points, from James down 1 to up 2 in 2 weeks;
Trump up now in MI;
Rs just blowing it out in early voting, where Ds typically dominate in FL
Hearing NV is seeing BIG R turnout; that even in Clark there is surprising R turnout
Same in NM
Only AZ seems to be lagging in the early R turnout.

Many Suburban Dems are under the false assumption that tent cities and riots will go away once Trump is gone. They don’t realize they will probably be living in the tent city once their house gets foreclosed on if Biden gets elected.

It would be wonderful if this is happening, But at the very least it’s amusing that Democrats fix polling to try and hurt Republican morale and fail to realize their snowflake constituency is far more susceptible to the same thing. We’re not (well, most of us) prone to running around shouting “We’re doomed!”. Most just go out and buy more ammo.

...”There are no more Democrat counties in the Lone Star State.”
I wonder if the residents of, say, Travis County, would agree with that statement....Harris County, too, maybe...? I dunno; I am not a native Texan but there do seem to be large areas of liberalism in my adopted state... jus’ sayin’ ...

Harris, Dallas, Travis, Bexar and Jefferson counties will not go repub. The big cities have a lot of illegals and homeless that vote multiple times and Jefferson (Beaumont) is full of unions and lawyers.

Lived there 74-96. Could see the changes coming.

When the California nazis started moving in, it quit being a laid back, goofy place, and started becoming a politically correct, ideologically driven authoritarian city.

Old Austin joke:

How many Austinites does it take to change a light bulb?

Seven. One to change the bulb and six to talk about how great things were in the sixties.
