Biden: Muting mics at debate 'a good idea'

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden praised the Commission on Presidential Debates' decision to mute the candidates' microphones while the other is speaking at the upcoming debate in Nashville, saying the forums need more limitations.

"I think it's a good idea," Biden told Milwaukee's ABC affiliate WISN on Tuesday. "I think there should be more limitations on us not interrupting one another."

"If you noticed last time, according to Chris Wallace, he interrupted the president and me 148 times," Biden added. "I hope [Trump] is going to come prepared to talk about what he's for, but my guess is, he's kind of signaling that it's going to all be about personal attacks because he doesn't want to talk about why he's taking away health care at the time we're in the middle of a pandemic, why he has no plan for health care, why he hasn't provided the money to allow businesses the ability to reopen, why he's not dealing with unemployment, etc."

"But I'm going to try very had to focus on the issues that affect the American people, and talk to them," he said.

The commission announced on Monday it was adopting the rule in the wake of the last debate between Trump and Biden where it was at times not possible to clearly hear the candidates due to interruptions.

“Both campaigns this week again reaffirmed their agreement to the two-minute, uninterrupted rule. The Commission is announcing today that in order to enforce this agreed upon rule, the only candidate whose microphone will be open during these two-minute periods is the candidate who has the floor under the rules,” the commission said in a Monday evening statement.

“For the balance of each segment, which by design is intended to be dedicated to open discussion, both candidates’ microphones will be open,” it said.

The Trump campaign initially voiced its disapproval for the commission’s announcement, but said the president would still participate "regardless of last minute rule changes from the biased commission in their latest attempt to provide advantage to their favored candidate.”

AKA, in other words, censoring someone is good.

Lyin’ Biden was the first speaker to interrupt at the first debate.

Someone suggested Trump should bring his phone and tweet while his mic is off.

I agree with Biden. Christ Wallace needs to quit interrupting the candidates.

I didn’t watch the first debate. Did POTUS DJT really interrupt that many times? I have my doubts.

THIS is the man you want to lead the free world? One who can’t fight, can’t defend himself, but needs to hide behind the skirts of rules and censorship to “prove” his points?

Bs. This guy ain’t American and there’s zero reason he should be allowed anywhere near power.

If they also mute the mod’s mic so he/she won’t be interrupting.

But that won’t happen because they need the mod to deflect and defend any negative remarks coming from — Trump.

I emailed whitehouse.gov last night and wrote,

“Don’t appear at that debate, Mr. President!! It’s rigged, the moderator is a screaming leftist who sides with Biden, and they banned discussing your strongest achievements, the economy and foreign policy.

It’s a trap, sir, don’t do it!”

Muting a microphone is an infringement on free speech.

Trump is walking straight into an ambush.“

Yes he is. Moderator who hates him, muted mic, questions lifted directly from Biden’s web page; Biden given the questions Monday in other words a trap. Trump accepted every one of these conditions. His hubris tells him he can handle anything and it could cost him the election

He did - but that’s not the point.

What’s being ignored is that Biden couldn’t return fire. Once off his rehearsed talking points he couldn’t make a cognizant point, answer Trumps questions or even take the fight back to Trump.

It was so bad that Chris Wallace, “neutral moderator” actually took on that role as cover for Biden.

In any sane, rational analysis, Trump won hands down and Biden was shown to be not only weak but obviously suffering from dementia.

The ONE thing Trump did wrong was continue to interrupt even when Biden was trying to respond and which ironically stopped Biden from making a complete fool of himself.

It won’t stop Joe from laughing and making childish faces while Trump is talking.

Read the Biden quote closely. Whatever Biden might have meant, he says Chris Wallace interrupted “the president and me 148 times.”

“I sense a trap”
“Me too, so what do we do?”
“Spring the trap”

Trump can’t stand down because the media will turn around and say Trump’s ideas can’t hold up without his bullying. It’s an instant lose proposition and will give strength to the leftists that their “superior rhetoric” is correct.

That doesn’t mean he has to play the game by their rules. As Nancy Pelosi is fond of saying “we have lots of arrows in our quiver”

This is how men fight.
