Over the weekend, a campaign surrogate for Joe Biden announced the candidate called what’s being named a “super lid.” A lid means the candidate is not available for press appearances, usually for the day. In this case, Biden will not be available until after the debate in Nashville on Thursday night.
Supposedly, Biden needs an extended break to prepare for the debate. But lids have been a feature, not a bug for Joe Biden. The campaign called ten in the month of September without giving any real explanation. Some of these were blamed on debate prep. However, it is difficult to understand how a cable news interview would significantly interfere with that process. He kicked off the month of October by calling another lid on the first of the month.
The most plausible explanation now is the scandal that is brewing related to emails and text messages purportedly found by a repairman on his son Hunter’s computer. The New York Post reported several incriminating messages implying Joe Biden profits from his son’s overseas business ventures. Others indicate the foreign businessmen who were hiring Hunter Biden were explicitly looking for access to his father when he was vice president.
The campaign called a lid the day the initial report emerged in the New York Post.
Biden has a history of becoming angry when questioned about his son’s business dealings in countries the former vice-president oversaw during the Obama administration. During the primary, Biden became frustrated when an Iowa voter challenged him on Hunter’s Ukraine business dealings. Biden challenged the voter to a push-up contest and called him fat

Why would a politician with 47 years experience need any debate prep at all? He should have it down pat by now.
He's had 47 years in politics to prepare for the deabte. If he's not ready for Thursday, he's not ready for the presidency.

Um, presidencies don’t have lids.
I hate to say this but unless Trump has something up his sleeve I think he or his advisers are fools for participating in the debate. Easy out for him. Moderator is another democrat hack, they changed the format too late in the game, and mute button is a non starter.
I hear that it might be upgraded to “Super Duper” later today.
O wish Trump would get out of this debate, and announce it at the next rally/protest. He can inform people who may not know that the debate commission is removing foreign policy from the list of discussion topics because of his success, and Joe and Hunters ties to China, Ukraine and other nations in pay for play!
Please President Trump...GET THE HELL OUT OF THIS DEBATE!
Has anyone noticed that this is the first Presidential election where the Dem candidate has not held a single press event?

Maybe Biden is following in the footsteps of King Louis XIV of France ...... trapping his co-conspirators in a luxurious cage.
Trump needs to ignore the moderator questions and be prepared with his own comments and challenges to Biden.

It makes me wonder, how can this man handle the 24.7 rigors of the presidency, if he can’t put in any time and effort in the campaign to win that office????

He’s resetting his sleep patterns to be able to go to the debate without the dementia ‘sundowning’ that patients experience.
He did the same thing before the first debate. I’ll speculate the same way I did then:
Joe sundowns due to his cognitive decline.
They are using this time to flip his sleep schedule so he’s sleeping during the day and waking up about 6PM. That way his brain thinks the debate is in the morning, and he’ll be as sharp as he can be.
Trump should set up a van with loudspeaker outside Biden’s house to keep him awake the day of the debate. He’ll be wiped out by debate time and either have to pull out or will put on quite a display for the TV audience.
