The key data come from randomized trials testing hydroxychloroquine’s effectiveness when used to prevent or treat COVID-19 infection in the early stages of disease, while patients are still home and not hospitalized with severe pneumonia. Because they minimize bias, well-performed randomized trials yield weighty clinical evidence. And unlike many of the clinical trials enrolling hospitalized patients, the hydroxychloroquine doses used in outpatient studies have been lower and not in the toxic range.

We had better start taking these types of treatments seriously. We will have another pandemic, let’s actually do some preparation this time around. Unlike nothing from Obama/Biden

I notice Trump was, along with whatever else he was treated with, given zinc and D.

It's 15 bucks for the 5-day dose.

Cheaper than a bottle of good wine.

This is absolutely correct
I applaud your work on this whole subject. The fact is it is a reasonable drug in early stage. It is not a cure. I still think it’s a good prophylaxis. But once to moderate or late phase. Not so good

It’s a sad bleepin’ day in The United States of America, when patients’ health and even life & death decisions can be held hostage by strutting, snivelling prima donas, sticking their noses in the air and vetoing the using of well-known efficacious drugs, because of hatred, political loathing or satanic envy toward another American of a different party. It’s good I don’t rule the world. A number of stuffed shirt posers more interested in politics than in mercy and healing would find themselves receiving the precise treatment the have deigned to dump on the real people. Are you listening Fauci? Birx? Redfield? WHO? CDC? You’ve been skating for decades. But when you find yourself before the Supreme Judge of the Universe, the skates come off. We’ll see how well you skate barefoot.....on fire and brimstone. Payday is coming!

Treatment protocol

Prophylaxis

Zinc (50mg to 100mg per day)
Quercetin (500mg to 1000mg per day)
Bromhexine (25mg to 50mg per day)
Vitamins C (1000mg) and D (2000 u/d)

Early treatment

Zinc (75mg to 150mg per day)
Quercetin (500mg to 1500mg per day)
Bromhexine (50mg to 75mg per day)
Vitamins C (1000mg) and D (4000 u/d)
Aspirin (162mg to 325mg per day)

Ancillary (prescription only)

Hydroxychloroquine (400mg per day)
High-dose vitamin D (1x 100,000 IU)
Azithromycin (up to 500mg per day)
LMW heparin (usual dosage)

Note: Contraindications for HCQ (e.g. favism or heart disease) must be observed. However, a study by the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) confirmed that correctly dosed HCQ is safe for covid patients in any clinical setting.

Addendum: Other prescription drugs with first reported successes in the early medical treatment of Covid-19 are ivermectin (read more) and favipiravir (read more).
Treatment successes

For more results, see the full scientific references at the bottom of this page.

Zinc/HCQ/AZ

A Spanish study found that low plasma zinc levels (below 50mcg/dl) increased the risk of in-hospital death of covid patients by 130%.
US physicians reported an 84% decrease in hospitalizations, a 50% decrease in mortality among already hospitalized patients (if treated early), and an improvement in the condition of patients within 8 to 12 hours based on Zinc/HCQ/AZ early treatment.
Italian hospital doctors reported a decrease in deaths of 66% based on HCQ treatment.
US physicians moreover reported a 45% reduction in mortality of hospitalized patients by adding zinc to HCQ and azithromycin.
Another US study reported a rapid resolution (within hours) of Covid symptoms, such as shortness of breath, based on early outpatient treatment with high-dose zinc.
A Dutch study on HCQ published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases found a 53% risk reduction in terms of ICU admission and ventilation of covid patients.
Australian Professor Thomas Borody reported an improvement in the condition of covid patients often within hours after treatment with zinc, ivermectin and azithromycin.
See also: An overview of more than 100 international HCQ studies.

Bromhexine

Iranian doctors reported in a study with 78 patients a decrease in intensive care treatments of 82%, a decrease in intubations of 89%, and a decrease in deaths of 100%.
Chinese doctors reported a 50% reduction in intubations due to bromhexine treatment.
A German study discusses the efficacy of bromhexine based on biochemical properties.

Vitamin D

In a Spanish randomized controlled trial (RCT), high-dose vitamine D (100,000 IU) reduced the risk of requiring intensive care by 96%.
A large Israeli study found a strong link between vitamin D deficiency and covid-19 severity.
A 2017 meta-study found a positive effect of vitamin D on respiratory tract infections.

Aspirin

A US study showed that aspirin has a strong antiplatelet and anticoagulant effect in Covid patients, which could help prevent infection-related thrombosis, embolism and stroke.

Modes of action

Zinc inhibits RNA polymerase activity of coronaviruses and thus blocks virus replication, as first discovered by world-leading SARS virologist Ralph Baric in 2010.
Hydroxychloroquine and quercetin support the cellular absorption of zinc and have additional anti-viral properties, as first discovered during the SARS-1 epidemic in 2003.
Bromhexine, a mucolytic cough medication, inhibits the expression of cellular TMPRSS2 protease and thus the entry of the virus into the cell, as first described in 2017.
Vitamins C and D improve the immune system response.
Azithromycin (an antibiotic) prevents bacterial superinfections of the lung.
Aspirin may prevent infection-related thrombosis and embolisms in patients at risk.

See also: An illustration of the mechanisms of action of HCQ, quercetin and bromhexine
Additional notes

The early treatment of patients as soon as the first typical symptoms appear and even without a PCR test is essential to prevent progression of the disease. Zinc, HCQ, quercetin and bromhexin may also be used prophylactically for people at high risk or high exposure (e.g. for health care workers).

In contrast, isolating infected high-risk patients at home and without early treatment until they develop serious respiratory problems, as often happened during lockdowns, may be detrimental.

The alleged or actual negative results with hydroxychloroquine in some studies were based on delayed use (intensive care patients), excessive doses (up to 2400mg per day), manipulated data sets (the Surgisphere scandal), or ignored contraindications (e.g., favism or heart disease).

Early treatment based on the above protocol is intended to avoid hospitalization. If hospitalization nevertheless becomes necessary, experienced ICU doctors recommend avoiding invasive ventilation (intubation) whenever possible and using oxygen therapy (HFNC) instead.

It is conceivable that the above treatment protocol, which is simple, safe and inexpensive, could render more complex medications, vaccinations, and other measures largely obsolete.

How many died because of the OrangeDrugBad publicity and the trials that used HCQ+AZ only as a last resort?

Politicized science with a body count.

I have been on this drug for years now treating a condition that I have. If it is working to keep Covit away from me, good. Because I have not had any issues with Covit. And I have been around people who had it, not that I knew that when I was around them, found out later they had it. One person in our church had it, but NO ONE ELSE got it from that person!!! NO ONE!!! And I am sure that I was probably the only one on this drug because no one else admitted it and I did tell some in our Sunday School class that I was on it. So, maybe it is working to protect me. Who really ever knows how some drug will work for you or not. It is just the odds of the drug working for you or not, but that is all drugs we take. Otherwise, they would not put that 9-mile long list of bad things that happen to people taking it!!

It would be dangerous for me to take HCQ because of a congenital heart condition running in my family that I might have inherited. However, for the majority of people it is a safe drug when taken as directed by a doctor. And as gas_dr says, it is best administered in the early stages of COVID.

I have a friend who recently died 10 days after a positive covid test, and they did NOTHING for him. After the test he languished for a week in the care center, then got pneumonia so bad he went to the emergency room, then went back to the care center and died. I can’t believe they did absolutely nothing.

CDC does not recommend any early intervention. There is blood on the hands of the feral media and feral democrats who blacklisted early intervention like HCQ.
