On a night when the NBA broadcast its most important game, you would think that the league would own the night. That, once again, turned out to not be the case.
The viewership numbers for the sixth and final game of the NBA Finals are in, and they are atrocious. Game 6 drew, at its peak, 6.028 million viewers. To put that in perspective, Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, which included a team from Canada and did not include LeBron James, drew 18.34 million viewers.
Those figures represent a 66 percent drop.

I’m curious how Commissioner Silver intends to put lipstick on this pig. About 1.8% of the population could be bothered to watch this game.
It appears that the “National” in NBA now refers to the nation of China, the NBA being more popular in China than in the US. So which NBA team will be the first to emigrate to China, the Shanghai Warriors? How about the Chengdu Celtics or the Shenzhen Spurs? I’m all for the NBA, the league management, the teams and their players moving to China; they’d get a taste of real racism and discover the many wonders of communism first hand...

At the rate of team-value depreciation...I would suggest by the end of 2021...at least one NBA will be on the sales-lot, and a Chinese billionaire will enter the bidding to bring the team into China. By 2025, with interest dwindling in the US...I could see five NBA teams relocated into China.
NBA rigged it so the Lakers would be in the finals, because they think LeBron is a star that everyone wants to see.

Not sure if the NBA game overlapped with the Vikings/Seahawks game, but I’m sure the come-from-behind Seahawks victory with Russell Wilson throwing an amazing pass on 4th down and goal with 15 seconds to go was much more exciting than the Lakers easy win over Miami
I don’t think the NBA had to ‘rig’ the Lakers in the finals. What I did detect was a lack of ‘intensity’ on the part of a few of the playoff teams. It seemed like “Playing in the Bubble” was a little too much for some of these professionals. There was a little bit of cheating against the restrictions and a LOT of complaining about them. I think those teams just sort of collapsed when they hit a bit of adversity because the players just wanted to go home. LeBron in his pursuit of a legacy seemed to keep the Lakers relatively focused.

NJ’s “adult Ping-Pong” team moved to Brooklyn years ago, and we haven’t had a professional team since. We have some fans in the slums, but none that were ever going to buy tickets to a game. The new Russian owner refused requests to move them from the Meadowlands to Newark, and opted for a place with a more stable population and economy in Brooklyn.
I like the idea of the Lhasa Lakers, but some player might mention Tibet and suddenly there’s a very large pair of kidneys on the market.
I’d like to personally thank LeBron James for ending the NBA !
